Apparently Run DMB played well in camp this past week, so his inclusion in the roster looks likely. However, I think that that may bump off the promising Alejandro Bedoya from the final 23. I would have liked to seen him get some quality experience in South Africa, even if he failed to feature.
I don't mind DMB making the 23, but I wouldn't be surprised if Torres is left off instead of Bedoya.

He has for the US, and there's no way he'd make the roster as a center mid.
Which games? I'll hang up and listen.

Honestly, I'd be dissapointed if Beas was left off the roster. I know he's had some bad outings, but he has experience and I think he showed enough in the Holland game to earn a spot.
For 23 I'd like to see
GK - Howard, Guzan, Hahneman
D - Bocanegra, Gooch, Spector, Cherundolo, Goodson, Demerit, Pearce
M - Beasley, Bradley, Feilhaber, Dempsey, Donovan, Edu, Clark, Holden
F - Altidore, Buddle, EJ, Gomez
Wild Card Torres or Bornstein(Do you take an extra defender or midfielder?)

Extra midfielder, because Edu can play CB in case of emergency, and it would be an emergency if Bornstein ever sees the field.

I could see them leaving out Pearce instead of Bornstein, unless Pearce has an outstanding camp.
I guess you're right that Clark will make the squad, I just hope he earns his way on and is not a given.

LOLz at Ching and Bornstein not going.
Out of curiosity, why do YOU think Bornstein played CB in three consecutive US games?
I'll hang up and listen.

So far you're 0 - 1. Ching is coming off an injury, and Gomez and Buddle are coming off of or having personal record breaking seasons.
Gomez and Buddle are both better than Ching.

SBI Projected USA World Cup squad
GOALKEEPERS- Tim Howard, Marcus Hahnemann, Brad Guzan
DEFENDERS- Oguchi Onyewu, Carlos Bocanegra, Jay DeMerit, Steve Cherundolo, Jonathan Spector, Clarence Goodson, Jonathan Bornstein, Heath Pearce
MIDFIELDERS- Landon Donovan, Michael Bradley, Ricardo Clark, Maurice Edu, Stuart Holden, DaMarcus Beasley, Jose Torres, Benny Feilhaber.
FORWARDS- Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, Brian Ching, Herculez Gomez
Ives thinks Bedoya gets left off in favor of an extra defender in Pearce.

Because Demerit, Gooch, Boca, Goodson were either injured or with their club teams. I may be wrong, but I don't recall Bornstein starting 3 consecutive games at center half

Torres made his debut against Cuba in a WCQ coming on for Heath Pearce at the left mid spot.
Nice try.
Except I watched that game yesterday. They replaced Pearce with him, and played a bastardized 3-5-2 with Donovan and Beasley outside of him. (Beasley was sort of the left back, but not really, because Cuba only had 10 men at that point.)
He's replaced a striker with a couple minutes left in a couple of games, when the US switches to a 4-5-1 and tries to kill a game off, but being an outside mid, to possess and relieve pressure, in a 4-5-1, with a lead against a CONCACAF opponent, is not the same as starting as an outside mid in a 4-4-2.
He plays centrally for his club, and any game for the US where he's made more than a token appearance, he's played centrally.
But tell me more. I'm intrigued.

It's a prediction, trying to make the pieces fit. Torres has played wide for the US.
You watched the USA - Cuba WCQ yesterday?
The only way Torres makes this roster is as a left mid. Simple as that. He's not going to see the the CM position over Feilhaber, Bradley, Edu, or Clark.

Never said they weren't. But I really don't think that EJ, Gomez and Buddle will all go ahead of Ching.

Point conceded.

Neither do I. Didn't say that, either. He shifted inside for the second half twice, and started the El Sal friendly. That was so he could be used to CB at the international level, like he does with Chivas.

Yes. And the Poland friendly from 2006. Slow day at work. Why?

So he would have to beat out three guys (Rogers, Beasley, and Bedoya) who play that position year round? Hell, Pearce has played that position all season for FC Dallas. He's probably got a better shot than Torres, if that's our measuring stick.

Jed, you need to look at the styles of Mo Edu, Bradley and Rico Clark. All three of those guys are defensive mids. Torres brings better passing and can get forward better than all of them outside of perhaps Bradley.

Also need to account for Dempsey moving forward in some matches.
They're not going to bring Clark off the bench to replace Dempsey if we need a goal. In that scenario wouldn't you need to replace Dempsey with someone like Torres? I guess it could be Holden.
Then again, there's about an even chance of Bradley missing a match, so I guess you need at least 3 defensive mids. Looking at it that way, I don't see how you can leave Clark out unless I'm forgetting someone. Beasley/Torres/Holden are not defensive guys, right?

I realize that, I said earlier I would have Feilhaber ahead of Torres in that type of roll.

i was thinking the same team. leave goodson off, our defense is fine with the 6 guys listed outside of him

the way it should be. pearce is a solid solid defender. and is perfect for a sub to come on and hold if we are in need of strong d and no offense if we need to hold a lead. while pearce is not a great distributor from the back, he is an outstanding "defender"
