I had a set of $350 King Snake(King Cobra Knockoffs) irons(SW-3) custom made and fitted back in 1996. I was a 17 handicap before getting those. I began playing and practicing more through the years and got as low as a 7 from 2001 to 2006. That 7 slipped to a 10 after not playing as much from 2006 to 2008. I began playing more golf again in early 2009 and got the handicap back down to a 7, all with the same set of irons I had made back in 1996. I've always played with brand made woods and putters, along with wedges and rescue clubs.

Through all of this, I am a firm believer YOU will make the most difference in your golf game than the clubs you play.

Good luck with your decision, and hit'em straight.

P.S. Don't underestimate how important the right golf shoe is to your performance. Most of the time it is an after thought. No one ever discusses it, but this can affect your swing accuracy(balance) and power generated(torque). Don't go cheap on your shoes.

I had a set of Ping Zings and those worked fine for me. I think a pro would probably notice a difference, but not an amateur like me.
