Besides just a better product on the court...

what in your opinion could LSU Men's Hoops do to boost attendance among students and the rest of the population?

Seriously, promotions. I don't know what else you could do. #1 is a good product, but there is no guarantee.

Obviously winning will do it. That's been proven, and I believe that Trent is on the right track.
Another possibility is value. I've talked to people who attend minor league baseball games. They say that ticket prices are low, concession prices are reasonable, and sometimes the first 50 people get a team T-shirt. Plus it's an enjoyable evening.
Probably Trent has to win to draw a crowd.

I'd like to see LSU hoops average 11,000. Just wondering what it'd take to get there.

winning the biggest.
promotions like free shirts like they did for the bama game a few years back might help
really only so much LSU could do to try and up attendance besides just winning

winning is what it would take to average 11k and probably an exciting high flying style like tyrus/stro type player.
LSU can't really go that much lower on tickets in basketball they are already pretty cheap
plus they already use the canes challenge which back in the brady years was often the only reason to go to a game

Consistent winning is needed for basketball attendance.
Problem is once consistent winning comes, so do the TAF fees.

once that happens LSU basketball will have taken the next step. tickets wont be cheap any longer so being a big time program will be the only option to keep people going to games.

I think a SEC men's basketball program is above using promotions to boost attendance. I would say winning and also the atmosphere. The games need to be more enjoyable. I've said all along that the current seating arrangement blows and isn't conducive to crowd involvement at all.

start playing football in the PMAC
Posted on 5/14/10 at 12:55 pm to Elleshoe
Absolutely nothing. LSU fans fill the PMAC pretty well when LSU has a good team.
Look at 2006, early parts of 2006-2007, and 2009. If LSU is winning games and fans around town think they're good, they'll show up. If not, they won't.

Marketing:
if anyone on the team has a peronality, showcase it.
get more involved in the community.
push the pace of the game, people like points.
schedule more appealing OOC games.
in game giveaways.
better half time entertainment.
try and create a basketball pre-game party or tailgate culture.

not true. Fans have been really slow to come to games since the Dale Brown era even when we have been winning.

i'm hoping we can get a guy that plays the spoons, or makes music rubbing the rims of wine glasses....something real exciting like that.
eta: set up mats, headgear, big gloves (bigger than boxing, but still small enough to smack someone), and let people settle grudges at halftime.....radio personalities, super fans, ex athletes, local "celebs" anyone.

This. Although I don't know how you go about doing it.
