All the talk about JR's salary killing his motivation.........

How much do you think he's got left?
If he was paid 38 million, let's say he took home about 20-25 mill after taxes (I know I'm not an expert on that tax bracket ). Knock off about 6 or so for his agent.
That means he pocketed less than 20.
Over 3 years, 20 mill could go pretty fast.
Maybe soon he'll realize that money won't last forever and get back to work.
Here's hoping a coach like Shanahan, Payton, Belichick, Weiss, or Childress are willing to work with him and sign him in a place where he can sit and learn for a couple of years.

Yeah, I couldn't stretch 20 mil for more than a couple of years.

I hear ya but I doubt he's living the life most of us are living. Hell, that mink coat and all his jewelry is probably more than this government lawyer makes in a year.

You do realize that you could live VERY comfortably off of the interest ALONE on $20 million, correct?

Really ATL?
Because athletes, musicians, lotto winners who have made and lost fortunes in a couple of years has never happened.

If money did kill his motivation, then he truley is the biggest bust, not just in football, but world history.

It's not uncommon for some athletes to end up with very little when it's all over. See Antoine Walker.

IMO that pic summs JR up.
That lifestyle seems to be what was most important to him, not playing football.
Take Pmanning for example, ask yourself what's the diff between these two qbs?

Or Matt Ryan, or Carson Palmer, or Eli Manning.....
You don't have to try too hard to find examples of QB's being drafted high and actually wanting to play.
Jamarcus is definitley an outlier, and blaming the money, Raiders org, etc on his failures is plain stupidity.

I actually wasn't blaming the money. But it's a statement that has been made over and over again. I'm just saying if that contributed at all to his seemingly poor work ethic since going to the NFL, that won't be an excuse much longer.
After couple of houses, a few cars, clothes, jewelry, trips, not just for yourself but friends, family, entourage, plus still paying an agent, I'd be shocked if JR has anywhere near 10 million in his bank accounts at this point, and say it's probably less than 5.
After 3 years of thinking you're made of money, and seeing all of a sudden you've got a few million left at 25 years old with more money pouring out every day, that will not be an excuse that anyone can fall back on in his second stint with an NFL team at league minimum type numbers.

No argument there. And the pic you posted earlier says it all. There's a good chance that this is going to be a pretty sad story in a few years.

And don't get me wrong, I'm a huge JR fan. I think he's the best LSU QB I've ever seen, and wish nothing but the best for him.
I don't even think he's the bust that everyone makes him out to be. He had a solid 2nd year (really his first full season), which led some to consider the Raiders a possible darkhorse team to make a playoff push at the beginning of last year.
Of course, last year the wheels fell off and JR regressed way beyond the point of the usual sophomore slump.
But it didn't help that the Raiders threw away a top 10 1st round pick on a WR projected as a second rounder.
I truly think JR can still be a good pro, but he has to find the right fit. I hope he gets a shot with a legit QB coach with a team that can let him sit for a year or two and watch a vet QB.
