PS3 YLOD Repair - KECR Electronics

After my PS3 experienced the YLOD, I searched for a repair option other than Sony since it was out of warrenty.

I found KECR Electronics on Ebay. Their Ebay User ID is apbargains4you. Phone Number is 502 517 2362
KECR ELECTRONICS
1010 CEDAR RIDGE CT
LAWRENCEBURG KY 40342
502 517 2362
They had excellent feedback and asnswered my questions quickly so I decided to give them a try. They charged $55 + $15 shipping for the YLOD repair.
I recieved the PS3 back within about a week.
I unboxed it, very well packaged from the shipper btw, and hooked it back up to the tv.
First thing, no YLOD . It requires a system update. So, I let it download and install the system update. No troubles, during this time. Ra nfor aprox 45 minutes for the update.
I then pop in MW2. Disk boots fine, connects t othe server and I start a domination game. 10 seconds into the game a warning flashes in the top right hand corner saying the system is overheating. 5 seconds later it cuts off by itself.
I wait a minute and turn it back on, exact same results. It will stay on until I start a game, (this is when it starts to read the disk, I can hear the disk drive start to spin) If I dont start a game, I dont have any trouble.
I moved the system, did everything I can think of to help it run cooler, with no change.
So, I emailed the guy that just repaired it and described my problem. He immediately emailed my a UPS shipping label and told me to return it so he could look into it.
A few days later, I get a phone call from KECR. They have been able to duplicate the problem I described but have not been able to fix it.
After discussing options with him, I decide to "trade in" my PS3 for another repaired unit he has. Usually on a trade in he charges $120 for the new PS3, he said he would aply the $70 I already paid to that, meaning I would owe $50 more. He asked to gime him a few day as he wanted to test the new unit before he sent it to me to make sure it didnt do the same thing after the update.
Well, on Friday I recieved another phone call. He had the new unit ready to ship, in fact when I talked to him at 3pm, UPS had already picked it up. He did not charge me any additional money for the swap. He did swap all of my saved info from my HD over to the new one (most at least).
I recieved the new unit last night, hooked it up and played several hours of MW2 online without a problem.
Overall, I would highly recommend them for any game system repair. Even though they were unable to fix my system, they did everything they could to make me happy. Communication was great throughout the process as well.

Will definitely keep this info handy. Have a 4 usb 80 gig (upgraded to 160 gig)and refuse to give up my PS2 backwards capabilities if it dies.
