I don't think that there is a problem in having Mikie batting leadoff, but he leads the team in slugging percent so he would probably do more good around the 3 or 4 spot. Maybe something like this?

1. Landry .425 obp only 16 strikeouts and 15-17 in stolen bases
2. Micah Gibbs puts the ball in play and would be the best bet to get Landry over to third.
3. Mahtook leads team with a .727 slugging percent and at least would be the best person for a sacrifice fly.
4. Dean not at his full potential but would still protect Mikie.
5. Gaudet
6. Dozar
7. Nola
8. Edwards
9. Hanover

Agreed, with a small change. I think you leave Nola at 2. Micah is too good of a hitter to be bunting Landry over to get him in better scoring position (I believe strongly in the sacrifice bunt). So my order would be:

1. Landry
2. Nola
3. Mahtook
4. Micah Gibbs
5. Dean
6. Gaudet
7. Dozar
8. Edwards
9. Hanover

yea I wasn't considering the bunt for Micah. I think he can put someone over without it.

Last time landry lead off he was like 0-3 or 0-5...I don't think he is a lead off hitter..just grind it out until Watkins gets back..maybe put Hanover in the lead off spot (yes i know he is struggling)..but he tends to foul off a lot of balls..and if he changes his approach from the last few weeks that could be a could 1-6...

Until we find a starting pitcher, it doesn't matter what the hell the batting order is.

Right now:
1. Landry
2. Mahtook
3. Dean
4. Gibbs
5. Gaudet

when watkins returns:
1. Watkins
2. Mahtook
3. Dean
4. Gibbs
5. Landry
6. Gaudet
7. Nola
8. Dozar
9. Hanover

The biggest problem with our lineup has been the bottom 3 spots. You just made that 4 spots with that change and have Gaudet with zero protection.

I'd keep Nola where he is. He can swing inside out and he fits the 2 hole pretty well. I have no problem with moving Landry or Mahtook. Dozar has no business batting 6th.

I'd go with the following:

1. Landry (May not be able to do this against LHP)
2. Nola (He has to get back to being selective at the plate)
3. Mahtook (Should get more RBI ops here. He's had little in front of him lately)
4. Dean
5. Gaudet (Classic example of a guy who needs to be protected. He's not getting much to hit and he swings at almost anything close...bad combination)
6. Gibbs (sounds crazy moving him so far down, but but hopefully you'll get more out of Gaudet than you are getting now.)
7. Dozar
8. Edwards/Dishon/Delatte (Weakest spot in the lineup)
9. Hanover (Hoping he can get some decent pitches with Landry protecting him)

The minute we get Watkins back, you move Landry back in the order. He's been swinging the bat very well and can be a late season RBI producer for us.

Does anyone else think that we should put dishon back in left field and take edward out of the line up. At least Dishon was batting over .200 and IMO he is a better on defense as well

The only change Mainieri is making is that he is flipping Landry and Gaudet.

Edward hit .357 this weekend with a couple RBI. He is not striking out near as many times as Dishon has been. There has been nothing wrong with Edward's defense.

And if you look at it, Edward is batting .219 while Dishon is batting .217.

Exactly

Nothing wrong with the offense. Giving up 55 runs in the last 2 SEC series is the sole reason for the losing streak.

Leaving double digit runners on base per game is a problem.

yes pitching has been a problem, but we cant forget about all the runners we cant seem to drive in.

Atleast they're on base. The hits will start dropping in imo.

They have been getting on base all year, how long before it becomes a concern that we aren't getting them in?
