Brian Wilson throws pretty hard now(98-99 range), not sure how hard he was throwing at LSU.

I think he fluctuated. He was able to throw hard as soon as he was on campus though, he was throwing mid 90s fastballs as a freshman pitching against MLB players in the Alumni game.

Ben McDonald touched 100 while at LSU.
Brian Wilson never sniffed that before he had TJ surgery.

Russ Springer could bring the heat.

What about Brett Laxton?
In 1997 I believe we had a closer who could bring the heat! I can't remember his name. Maybe 1998?

Ben. And with his height, I bet it seemed even faster to the batters.
Saw him pitch in Baltimore against KC. Brett hit it out, so what comes in fast goes out fast sometimes.

What ever happened to this guy? I know he went pro and played for like 2-3 years, but then he just fell off the face of the earth. Anyone?

I don't know, but I will say I umped a Big Ben exhibition game when he was a senior at Denham and that dude was the fastest I ever saw when behind the plate. I did hit off of a couple of guys a couple of years before then that threw in the low 90's (greg Patterson being one)and Ben was faster than both of them. Dude could bring it.

i remember when Beau Jones was pitching in high school that people were excited to just ground out off of him
i really wish he would have came to LSU instead of going pro
