Our '09 D was vintage Chavis - very much in line with his body of work at Tenn. There's more to the "3rd & Chavis" than just a bunch of disgruntled Tenn fans.

More like an internet 'urban' myth.

I am related to a bunch of diehard Vols and they LOVE Chavis.

I've discussed the 'third and Chavis' moniker and they thought it was something a gump made up.

UT fans (not the internet snipes but true UT fans) have no ideal what third and Chavis is supposed to mean.

His body of work includes SEVERAL years of the best defense in the SEC and being a MAJOR part of UTs National Championship.

Chavis IS one of the best in the country and UGA ofered him close to a million a year to come revamp their D.

Trust me, we'll be glad he is not greedy!

I think last year Chavis was to afraid of giving up a big play with a lack of a pass rush. He didn't believe his corners could lock down receivers long enough for his pass rush to sack or pressure the qb.

No - the 3rd and Chavis is statistically born out over his years at Tenn. And it was borne out again this year. It's not all/always bad but it is what it is.

We conveniently excuse it on poor DL play. But if our DL was air-dropped into TCU or Tuscaloosa (I respect Saban's approach to D but there's no love loss for him), we would all be amazed at how much better they were playing. Again - ain't so much talent as it is approach.

I couldn't care less how much UGA offered him. I would be surprised if those playing the best D in CFB would even consider him for DC.

Les is ok with either Bo or Chief (even though their styles are so different) because IMO Les has no vision of what kind of team he wants to field.
