What are some good buys?
Posted on 4/11/10 at 11:30 pm to TheBigHurt
Companies with strong fundamentals that are undervalued.

I'd like pump up XOM for the record.

It was a lot higher when I was on spring break.
I hold large portions of XOM and WIN.

WIN has fared very well for you and you're about to get a nice little divy as well.

Props on that tip. It's made me a pretty penny.

Yeah, it's a good one and it's much more volatile than many other high div. stocks, which is good b/c you can make a heap of money trading it leading up to dividend distributions on both the underlying security itself and the divy.
Be careful holding after distribution. Sometimes is runs hard after a divy, which I would assume is due to those being reinvested back into the company. Other times it sells off. Something to keep in mind.

The ticker name is fricking awesome too. I wonder if anyone has claimed FTW yet.

Agreed.
I once bought stock (in my classroom account)in BJS just because of the ticker/name. A company name BJ services is bound to be a winner. It ended up making me a nice hunk of change over a few months.

FTW is still available. You want to start a company?
Posted on 4/12/10 at 1:50 pm to TheHiddenFlask
A sports consulting service.

There's a mining company I play from time to time with the ticker CMIN.

I'm in HPOL right now at 1.23 as of this morning. It's struggling with 1.30 pretty seriously but I'm hoping it will hit at least 1.50 within a few days. Looking at the price action that just occured I'm getting DEEPLY concerned with supply being released around 1.30. Stay out of it, emotion.

I've never heard of that one but it makes some pretty significant daily swings.

I'm down. We can specialize on location-based use of internet acronyms, leveraging the existing platform of mobile technologies, such as twitter, FourSquare, and Gowalla. Android, iPhone, and iPad support will come out within a month, as well as tight integration with social networks such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Google Services. Piggybacking onto these existing technologies will provide us with very low fixed operating expenses, allowing us to focus purely on growing the top line.
The synergies captured in this venture can reach out to millions of consumers worldwide, and we think there is a particularly strong interest in the emerging markets in the Pacific Rim, notably Korea and China, as well as established markets in the US, Europe, and Japan. Our unattainable revenue projections (when we figure out how to actually turn this into money) have us overtaking Microsoft in market capitalization within a decade. If you want to win, invest in For The Win.

Yeah it's gonna give me a fricking ulcer before it's all over with. Got my stop set at 1.09 so hopefully I won't get burned with this one. (Most I ever risk per trade is 15% and that's rare)
