Could PP be a legit Heisman candidate? Just as a staight corner he obviously does not stand much of a chance, but with him returning kicks and maybe punts, with a big return or two for TDs is critical games along with lockdown defense, he could make a legit run at least at being in consideration.

What say you?

The media didn't even consider him a first or second team all American. Seriously doubt they'll get behind him for the Heisman.

Other than Charles Woodson, who also played some wide receiver at Michigan, has a defensive player ever won the award?

If Peterson is returning kicks and goes beast mode with alot of INTs.. he's got a chance.

But yeah.. Suh was the only hope

Suh was by far the best guy last year and he didn't win so it would be higly unlikely.

LSU doesn't know how to market a player for Heisman.

Russell was the only real candidate we had four years ago.. lost out to Troy Smith with comparable numbers... other than that.. we haven't had a real candidate in what seems like the entire decade.

Could he?
Of course

will lsu promote him as a heisman candidate?
Nope.

If they couldn't promote Russell, they sure as hell won't promote Peterson

Had Russell played big against Auburn and Florida(the two games LSU lost) he would have garned some AA and Heisman love. Troy Smith played steady all year and his team went undefeated,(until they played UF). Guys on NC contending teams at seasons end will always have an edge on their competitors in this instant-gratification society. Guys like Paul Hornung(2-8 Notre Dame) or even George Rogers(8-4 South Carolina)could not win the Heisman in todays sports climate.

If every team threw to his sideof the field over 75% of the time, he gets every kick return and every punt return kicked in his general direction maybe.

None of these things will happen tho so negative
qb's usually tend to avoid throwing towards players like him
