enough talent in those Rudy Macklin, DeWayne Scale days which was late 70's, early 80's to win consecutive NCAA titles with a blindfold on and couldn't do it!

The 81 team was easily the most talented, mature, well-rounded team in america. Rudy's hand injury doomed them probably. that team SHOULD have won it.

82 and 83 were pretty down.
84, 85 were solid.
There were packed houses.

but after those glory days, LSU Basketball was on the decline until he recruited C Jackson,

Mad stupid, just 100% incorrect.

1986, John Williams, Don Redden, Derrick Taylor,Ricky Blanton, Anthony Williams, etc FINAL FOUR.

1987 Darrel Joe comes in,the big Wampus Cat returns, LSU goes to Final 8, one basket away from Final 4 in Nola....

The excitement around the program and the status of the program had never been higher.
You couldn't back your car up anywhere in america without almost backing over Daddy Dale, he was seemingly EVERYWHERE.

CJ was just the latest in a long line of top tier talent.
He was just a little MORE top tier !
There was no decline.
The Assembly Center was packed through the Ice Reynolds days, the Derrick taylor/Don Redden/John Williams days, etc.

The loss to Ga Tech ( a MUCH MORE MATURE and equally talented team) was no shocker and certainly not something unexpected. It is just revisionist history of the casual fan who wants to act like he knows what he is talking about.

talk about Mad stupid and 100% incorrect, you don't lose a game due to one player's injury with all that talent, DB's coaching was always the culprit anyway you look at it.

and I disagree with that team being the most talented, like I said late 70's early 80's when he had Macklin along with incredible shooting Scales, the Green brothers, one whom was all sec and Ethan running the show, and Cookie Monster comin off da bench and still couldn't get it done is just plain inexcusable.

and I'm a casual fan.

and each time LSU lost, they lost to an eventual NCAA champion and basically it was one standout player beating a whole team of incredible players in LSU, first Magic with his shitty cast with Mich State, then Dr. Dunk(Darrell Griffith) and a so so Louisville cast, and later Isiah(1981) the year you are talkin about Indiana with another shitty cast. None of those teams had the talent LSU had, just those lone standout stars.
