LSU baseball off to better start than last year

I think we can all agree we haven't been as dominant as last year thus far, but we still manage to put enough together to win games.
How far can it take us? Before the season I worried a little about winning the SEC with Arkansas and Florida being so strong, but I'm feeling a lot better now about our chances!

Last year we had 3 issues early.
1.Our hitters were slumping
2.Our bullpen in between our starters and Ott was non existent.
3.We weren't that good defensively. I feel we have about 10 times as many DP's than we did at this time last year.
This year, we're hitting better than this point last year even though they can get better, we actually have reliable arms in the Bullpen(Rittiner, Bertuccini, Mormann, etc.), and we are solid defensively with the DP combo of Hanover and Nola and our speedy outfield.

Renaudo's return and and a permanent 3rd baseman should provide a boost.

I'm not worried about out hitting, I believe Didier is going to lock down 3rd for us. And pitching seems to have developed nicely as well. As soon as Ranaudo can get back to 6-7 innings an outing, we will be hard to beat in a series!

I think Didier has the most upside, but he hasn't shown it yet. Somebody has got to step up at third base. I can't wait to see how the rotation and relief sets up once Ranaudo is pitching to his limit. I was dissapointed with Mormann yesterday. He had really been pitching well lately, I expected a lot out of him this season.

Same here! Before the season I hoped Mormann would challenge for a weekend starting spot, and he had been playing very well before yesterday. I think he is someone we can usually rely on though.

This has to be scary to future opponents. We have the potential to get better. Ranaudo is rounding into form. Our defense has solid and, at times, very good. Our starting lineup has enough hitters to keep pressure on teams throughout the lineup. Most importantly (I think) is that we have been winning close ball games and getting clutch outs/hits.

thanks very much to John Smyley, the Saturday pitcher for the Hogs last weekend getting a blood blister on his pitching hand....the Hogs were in complete control of game # 2 until we had to pitch some unproven middle relief....then came walk after walk after walk sprinkled in with a few hits and the secure lead fell to a 7 spot for LSU in the 7th inning...Hogs, LSU and UF are the superior teams in the SEC this year

stop being such a whiny bitch. We haven't complained that the best pitcher in the league has been riding the pine for the last four weeks.

It was game 2 of a weekend series and I think it was the 7th inning. If you don't have someone who can come in and pitch, that says a lot about your team.

+1. We've gotten 3 hits from the 3B position in the last 7 games.

He freakin went 6 innings allowing 1 run, do you really expect your starter to do much more than that every game? It's not our fault yall didnt have sufficient relief pitching. Own up

I'm very confident is this year's team. If we peak at the right time a CWS repeat would not be out of the question if not another title.

Smyley shut us down for 6 innings! What more do you want? If you cant win after holding the other team to 1 run through six innings that's your own damn fault. Find some better pitchers!
Your team just isn't as deep in the bullpen as maybe you thought or would like...just admit it.

If you're looking for some sort of explanation look no further than the bullpen, they did not get the job done at all to say the least...
Bolsinger and Smyly I think may be the top 1-2 punch in the SEC besides maybe Pomeranz and Barrett.

Through 23 games last year we were 18-5. We are 20-3 this year.
