Their lead story is making it seem pretty bad. I know they like to sensationalize. Anybody have any inside scoop? They mention illegal phone calls from Les Miles.

You can read the entire report LSU is sending to the NCAA on the Reveille's website.

It is... Nowhere I have seen it be mentioned Miles made those calls. I think it's safe to assume who did though and he is no longer with us.

They specifically said Miles made calls that were in violation of the rules. Does that make it any worse than if it was made by an assistant who is no longer on staff? I'm asking cause I don't know.

I cant believe OP started a thread without reading the first two paragraph
quote:

LSU is self-reporting NCAA and football recruiting violations involving improper telephone contact, transportation and housing involving a former assistant coach and player.

LSU’s internal investigation centered around former wide receivers coach D.J. McCarthy — who resigned in December — and defensive lineman Akiem Hicks, a junior college transfer from California who did not play this year during his only season on the team. He has since left LSU.

From WBRZ Website

"Martin and Alleva have emphasized that the violations did not go beyond McCarthy and do not implicate head coach Les Miles."

Wow, after reading the actual source and comparing it with WAFB's lead in I am reminded of a fundamental truth: the media has a bias towards drama!

That is not what the report says....

FROM WAFB's website:

The report outlines phone calls, including some two and three hours in the middle of the night between the recruit and an unnamed female student worker of the football office, even calls made by head coach Les Miles that violate NCAA regulations.

Self-reported violations never amount to shite.

Violating School: "Oh great NCAA, we're sorry we violated your commandments. We didn't knowingly cross you. It was all a big misunderstanding."

NCAA: "Oh really? Let me see it all in writing! You can't lie if you have to write out the truth."

Violating School: "Oh great NCAA, here is our excessively wrong report which we wasted copious hours composing. I hope this suffices as punishment."

*School Hands NCAA documents*

NCAA: "Oh school, we can tell you are grievous of your many, many wrongs. But we love you for the money you make us. We forgive you school. Now move along and don't let this happen again!"

About Miles: NO BIG DEAL. Read through the report. Aparently McCarthy had an extra cell phone that wasn't registered with LSU that he used to phone Hicks during recruiting (there's some sort of software LSU uses on the LSU issued cell phones to track recruiting calls that make sure they are legit and following NCAA rules). During recruiting, Miles made a phone call to Hicks that was a violoation, but only because McCarthy had already called Hicks that week on his non-LSU phone, and no one knew about it. (Aparently during whatever period it was during recruiting, you could only call the recruit one a week)
