in Chris Lowe's blog today, this was Miles speaking about Lee...LINK
quote:
Miles said there was a two-minute drill in last weekend’s scrimmage that sort of defined where Jefferson is at this point.
“You think he’s coming along those lines,” Miles said. “But then you watch the two-minute drill, and he has a couple of throws where he could stand up and make them … and he didn’t do it.
“He still has opportunities to win games for us with his ability to throw and other things that he’s doing. We’d just like to see him grow a little bit more.”
• It’s still clearly Jefferson’s job to lose, but Miles said he’s not counting out junior Jarrett Lee in the quarterback race.
Miles said Lee has improved tremendously this spring. And in some situations, Lee has outplayed Jefferson.
“He comes to the field and wants to compete,” Miles said. “We had designs that somebody would go by him, but he isn’t allowing it. It’s nice to have another guy like that back there."
Lee would be one of the comeback stories of the year in the SEC. He started eight games as a redshirt freshman in 2008, but threw 16 interceptions -- seven that were returned for touchdowns.

sounds like it has something to do with reading defenses. is the "him" in the quote referring to Lee?

Hmm let's see:
Miles has a college education from Michigan. I'm wondering if some of the people who posts his quotes here looking for translations have ever been to college.

sorry, I posted the link and more of the story.

He means that Jordan Jefferson was touted as the starter and it was essentially his job to lose. But either through Jefferson's lack of development
or Lee's hard work, he is still putting up a fight

it sounds to me that the staff had plans of CG progressing into the second string spot, but Lee is being Lee in practice...

Is he saying that they were planning on someone passing him up on the depth chart but Lee is not letting it happen?

Do you guys really not know what Miles is trying to say or are you just playing stupid?
He's just referring to the fact that coming into the year, Miles thought Chris Garrett would possibly be beating out Lee for the backup QB spot, but Lee apparently has stepped up his game and he's not letting Garrett beat him out. Clear enough?

I read it as they had plans of CG moving into the backup spot (passing him up) but he's competed so well that that's no longer the plan.
Glad to hear he's playing his arse off, let's hope he can prove it in the fall by pushing JJ to improve or even getting his own chance.
ETA: I wrote all of this before the whole quote was posted, so yeah, it's pretty obvious what he was saying imo

ahh, got it now. he's talking about Chris Garrett maybe making a move to be the No. 2 QB but Lee taking it as a challenge and securing his role as JJ's backup.

It's typical where the hell did you learn to structure a sentence Miles, but it isn't hard to understand.

Yea sounds similar to what we heard last year

Listening to Miles is like reading a freshman English paper written with a thesaurus. You kind of know what he means, but it's clear the words were forcibly used against their will. No means no.

They planned on someone passing him in the QB lineup

but he isn’t allowing it.
He's playing really well right now

It's good to have another competitor fighting for the QB spot.
Anything else?

I don't know why anybody would be confused by his remarks. He's saying that JJ still makes mistakes at times that he shouldn't make, and JL is pushing JJ for the starting job.

The problem isn't with Miles, but with some of you mentally challenged types.
The staff thought Garrett would pass Lee on the QB food chain, but he hasn't.
