I dabbled in my younger days, but I don't have the patience/time to get into it.

i dont have the patience either. my old roommate played some game called the last sword or something like that last year.

he runs through those games in a few days, and it took him 3 weeks to beat it.

A friend of mine just went to preorder/pay for it in full and the person working there gave him the game.

I keep hearing how linear the game is... WTF is Square Enix doing? Most diehard FF fans don't wanna stay on 1 path until the game ends, IMO.

I don't mind it being linear as long as it opens up towards the end. That's what I loved about FFX, it was completley linear until the last 1/3 of the game, when you could explore whatever you wanted and you found lots of cool stuff that you overlooked during the linear part.

The whole thing isn't linear. Just the first several hours is what I'm hearing.

Video games eventually have to evolve, and that is what they are doing with XIII.

They might lose some fans, but they are also picking up a lot of new fans.

Waiting in a line at a store is a "party"?

FF13 plays like a action rpg per the reviews.

The only things that makes it not a pure action rpg is the action gauge that controls the flow of battles.

If its anything like 12, its not the turn based you have in mind.

I for one don't mind turn based, as long as the combat system is sufficiently deep and complex. When its just mashing the attack button, thats when I'm out.
