I read good stuff about this game but didn't wanna buy it cuz I already have dragon age, but a local store was going out of business and all games were 30% off. They didn't have many games but this game is fricking awesome.

Best console game I've bought in years, but I have to say it really feels like a PC game.

It's great... definitely not for the impatient or milquetoast. It takes smart and practiced playing that challenges anyone's reflexes.

You'd be surprised then.
But in all seriousness, Demons' Souls is great. It's refreshing to see a difficult game in today's word where it seems like every game has been dumbed down and casualized.

Seriously. I have never had more rage on a game. It's intense.

The only reason games were more difficult in previous generations is because it was the only way for companies to get people to buy games instead of renting them. Now, with expanded technology, we have things like online play, sandbox environments, and optional content to ensure replayability.
I think the attitude developers have today toward their products is also more passionate... they grew up playing games and have a sense of wonderment at their own creations. I wouldn't say the majority of them make games less difficult just to cater to an increasingly diversifying audience. Although that probably is the strategy some of the time, there are a couple of more reasons for this practice. One is that some designers genuinely want the player to feel in control and never be bested by the game. I think the more common issue is that games are pushed with such deadlines that developers don't often have the time (or I will admit, skill) to program AI to the advanced level of Demon's Souls.

I am pretty much an offline gamer. I know DS has really cool online capabilities where you can correspond and interact with other gamers, but how is the game if it were played strictly offline? Still worth the buy or is it only worth it if you log in to play?

yeah, but if u had a normal style save system this game would be tough, but it would lose a lot of what makes the game great. the downfall of most games may actually be the ability to save before every encounter

it is one of the best single player games out probably. the online play is rare (in the sense of actually interacting with other players, there is some pvp though), although it does enhance the experience being able to watch other people die and reading the hints they leave all over the place.
