I agree with Frank needing to get on him....but I also think that Chavis would be good in this situation also, because he is the defensive cord.

Saban is probably the best DB coach in CFB.

This is a big myth

Frank Beamer and Bud Foster at Virginia Tech can rival any coaches in terms of DB production. They have an all-conference/All-American boundary corner every year. I'll really be impressed with Saban and co. if their corners are as good this year.

Its a given that gumps believe Saban is the greatest coach in football today. This is purely subjective; I think he has earned the rep of being one of the best. Still, I would in no way say he is the best out there. There are many great coaches out there that could be better at coaching than Saban: Gary Patterson, Frank Beamer, Urban Meyer...an argument could be made for any of these guys and others as well.

When it comes to game planning and game calling, Saban is merely average. There are many coaches out there better than he is in this area. Where Saban truly excels is in fundamental teaching and talent evaluation. In these areas, I'm not sure he could be any better. He finds a way to get his best players on the field at their best positions. I watched him instruct some players in defensive fundamentals and his teaching ability is exceptional.

There are many aspects of being a head coach. Saban is stronger than most in some aspects, weaker than others in some aspects.

There are a few, I don't know their names. Texas DB coach is better, FSU, the guy that coaches USCe, the guy that was at UF last year, to name a few. To anyone that really knows the position, he's not as great as people say. He's very good at what he does though. Most think because he's great at schemes and concentrates most of his time coaching DB's, he most be a great DB coach. His scheme is to affect the QB. By doing so, it makes the DB's look better. I know DB's that played and started for him personally.

I respect him a great deal, he stuck with a family member of mine when EVERY LSU fan in the US wanted him replaced. I happen to think he's a good man.

Webster and Landry did, but Webster was terrible his first 2-3 years. Landry did pretty well his first year, mainly because he played with that freak of nature MR. SHAWN TAYLOR. Gay played pretty well too, the schemes were very similar
