Anyone take that as a bad sign? Does anyone remember his first year here when people were getting injured a lot? Miles has taken some criticisms for his practice schemes...and has apparently toned the intensity down because some felt he was overworking the team.

They need a fire up their arse but their is a fine line of motivating a team to toughness...and just plain killing them in practice.

well 1, his 1st year had other circumstances that led to injuries (no bye week, katrina, etc.)

2nd, the players who played here under Saban says that Miles practiced them longer and harder. Some of the current players feel like they wear down because they practice too much.

3rd, their 4th quarter workout was the easiest its been under Miles

Miles said he wanted a tougher football team that could stop the run and run the ball better than previous years. This squad could be better off if they play with a little mean streak.

Their has been rumors the Chavis doesn't agree with his practice sessions either...

At least he recognizes that if trench play on both sides don't improve, we'll have a long season. Didn't really take a genius to figure that out though.

Working 'em hard in the Spring/Summer is not the same as working 'em hard in the Fall. As long as he doesn't wear players down with brutal October workouts, I think higher intensity leading up to the season is probably not a bad thing.

He needs to just shut up and do it and please don't say I'm going to get it fix

I have no problem with our coach working guys hard if he feels it us needed.

I do find it interesting that you find working the players hard inherently wrong...in the spring.

Sending a message to the team. Be ready to work.

Maybe he's pissed and is cranking up the intensity. Trying to set a new tone. Maybe this team is finally in a foul mood.

I'm not sure what people want out of Miles other than going undefeated while scoring a record number of points and not letting any other team cross the 50 yard line, much less score. The guy can't catch a break from some people, regardless of his decision. He is still the coach, whether you like it or not. If he said he was going to take it easier on them, the OP would probably be starting the exact same thread about that.

This is a very important distinction that goes over many people's heads when discussing practice time, etc.

Miles might be killing them in the spring/summer, but that's whats supposed to happen. It would seem that he backed off that philosophy a bit last year, and well, we saw the results of that.

So long as he's not running anyone into the ground a week before the Florida game...

or maybe he is trying to send a message to a young team which has very few seniors. Or maybe ge felt like last years team was soft and is motivated to make both lines more physical.

Yet here we are with a poster declaring hes making a mistake because someone could get hurt.

Sure, they happen.

But between his first year here and player comments, the rumors about the coaches and the team looking wore down last year as the game went on...its a legit question.

He does need to light some intensity in his team...but he has to know where the fine line is.

Good. He has always ran an "easy" program for players. He needs to toughen up a bit.
