Well, there were discussions of having it near the convention center, right?
That land was deeemd not big enough.
I always thought that "Carnival Cruiselines Stadium" would have been sweet though with an open end to the river and a huge Carnival Cruise ship docked outside the stadium.

it would be dumb as hell to have the stadium anywhere but downtown

the dome is fine and should be used for atleast 50 more years. The dome has an excellent location where it is. Tailgating??? are you kidding me. If you want to tailgate go to LSU or some college, most Saints games are at noon on a sunday anyway--burgers and dogs for breakfast? i dont think so--The Dome is fine as it is in the perfect location, if you haven't noticed it has become an icon for the city of New Orleans, building another stadium aint gonna happen for atleast another 30 years

That's right. Your idea is cool as shite though.

Absolutely. A stadium with a river view would be pretty awesome. I don't know how it could be done though. There is no room.

NOLA boys feathers ruffled a little by this talk of leaving downtown Chocolate City, but it happens sometimes (Cowboys play in Arlington).

The Cowboys never had a downtown stadium.
Douchebag owners like Jerry Jones would NEVER build a stadium downtown because then they couldn't control 100% of the parking spots and assrape their fans every week.
frick Jones and frick suburban stadiums with $50 parking lots.

Not feathers being ruffled, but rather just noticing an idiotic idea.
Dallas sucks as a city overall. shite is spread out so far you have to drive EVERYWHERE! Hate that fricking city.

Tell Benson that when he threatens to go to San Antonio or L.A.

The stadium will not be anywhere but downtown.

I think they should keep the stadium right where it is. It's location makes the city that much more attractive to all sorts of events coming to New Orleans. Tourists and locals alike can go from the Dome to the Quarter in no time flat. If it came to it, they could implode the current Dome at the end of the season, start construction immediately, play at Tiger Stadium and the Independence Bowl for a season and that would give them at least 19 months or more (depending on when that season ends) to erect a new one. I think the location is perfect where it is. If there's any possibility of building next door like they did with Yankee Stadium, that would be even better - no seasons without a Dome.

quote:Exactly what I was thinking. Except I would think that the home games should be split between Shreveport and Jackson. The Sainst TS experience was bad.

Great. But the Dome will not be there forever. Aside from some name calling, I've heard a couple of good ideas. I just didn't think there was anymore room downtown to build a new stadium.

the world will end in 2012 so it really doesn't matter

quote:Yeah, I remember it wasn't a great experience and I remember Jason Taylor from Miami calling the locker rooms second rate and all. I think he played at a division II school or something like that so he should have kept his mouth shut rather than looking like an idiot. I think they could address that issue with the proper planning though and it would be a great link between the big college team and the pro team. If they ever installed turf (which I really don't want) in TS, it would be a no brainer and the worries about field condition would not be an issue. I think Shreveport would love to have some games there and the locals would turn out en masse! Jackson would be a nice draw to cement the team as a team of the region but what stadium would they use there?
The Sainst TS experience was bad.

anyone that went to the superbowl can attest to how much it sucks having the stadium so far away from everything. frick that. id rather play in a 80 year old stadium as opposed to playing in some place far away from what makes the saints experience special, being in the middle of everything that nola has to offer.
