History Channel Shows

I think History Channel and Discovery are my 2 favorite channels. However, i'm starting to get pissed at all the damn reality sitcoms. The cool part about the history channel was all the explorative documentaries and such. And it seems the only time those come on now are on saturday nights. I can't bring myself to watch ax men, ice road truckers, deadliest catch, american pickers, pawn stars, etc... because they are basically the same show. Bring back the HISTORY in the History Channel, and the DISCOVERY in the Discovery Channel.

You and me both. History's Mysteries, Tales of the Gun, WW II in Living Color, Dogfight are way better than the drivel they have on now.
ETA:
The one about Gerald Bull was the best.

Saturday night they had a special on the Kensington Rune Stone. It was pretty damn interesting. But last night, all i see is pawn stars 4 hours in a row. THey are MTV'ing their way out of business.

I agree. I'll watch some of the reality type shows with my husband occasionally but there's always some idiot whining or bitching about something on them.
And the playing the same thing several hours in a row is overkill. I remember when the tattoo shows were popular a year or so ago two of the three stations (Discovery/History/TLC) were showing several hours of LA Ink & whatever other tattoo show was big at the same time.
Then some nights they run the extremely obese shows opposite the little people shows. What's up with that?
I really prefer the documentary-type shows that they used to show all the time.

The Battles BC series rocked. Especially the one about Hannibal and his war on Rome.

I'm a big fan of Gangland
I'm kind of torn. While my favorite History Channel shows remain Battle 360, Dogfight, any type of historical doc that doesn't include Hitler, I cannot lie and say I dislike all the new shows. Monsterquest ran out of material, so did Life After People, but I liked them at first. My wife and I watch American Pickers and Pawn Stars, but I can't see those shows going on forever.
I hate axe men and Ice Road truckers.

Sucks now.
I started watching National Geographic Channel.
Military is good, too.

I feel the same way about all of these except pawn stars...you'll learn quite a bit of american history watching that show.
