Maybe some of you haven't been around long enough to remember the sad play that former LSU coaches fielded in the past. I'm not going to rehash this but it is what it is. We now recruit some of the best players in the country and we keep the majority of the best LA. players at home. Look, nobody is happy about losing to those a-holes in Oxford, Penn State, or being the 112th ranked offense in the NCAA. But I honestly think that we will field a strong team next year capable of contending for the SEC Championship and proving that LSU regardless of the last two years is a top program not just in the SEC but in the country.

I can appreciate your optomism but I'm afraid Miles has proven that he is able to take great talent and coach them to be average.

I agree with you Miles and staff have brought in talent. Now, all the coaching staff needs to do is play the best 11 on O&D, teach technique, fundamentals and pay strict attention to detail.

Look, it is what it is. I think we are capable of performing at a much higher level than shown.
Not just because of bad coaching but poor performance on the field. Our o-line was recovering from injury or surgery most of the year and our QB never grasp the offense. Am I happy with our O.C., of course not. He should have been able to adjust better that anything we saw this year. Will we be better, I say as the LSU/SAINTS/CUBS fan I have been all of my life, yes we will.

For those of us that have been around that long...thinking of some of those coaches/teams is downright depressing.

Reading some of the garbage posted recently, you'd be hard-pressed to tell that LSU recruiting was doing anything other than swimming in pond scum.

The Ole Miss loss is kind of like karma for the Bluegrass Miracle--one LSU had NO business winning, the other one LSU should have NEVER lost.
The bowl game loss was frustrating to watch being played in a pasture. Although the outcome may not have changed, would have liked to see that game played on a fast track. PSU was a respectable team that did finish 11-2.
The offense MUST get fixed next year, or like the '08 defense, changes will be required. I also believe the Tigers will field a strong team next year--they better, 'cause the 2 NC opponents will not go down without a fight, & the SEC will be its usual meat grinder.

I grew up in Louisiana in the 50s and 60s. History tells me that LSU will nit tolerate inferior coaching and performance on the field. Today because of the amount of money involved in contracts, it requires more diligence before a coach is released. It is apparent that Les Miles will be released in time because he is not equal to the better coaches in the SEC.

You're not the only one to have witnessed some lean years in BR. I'm in my 40s but what we saw 20 yrs ago is irrelevant.

I think as long as you can consistently get a top 10 class you have a chance. LSU and USC have learned that it takes more than just a few 5 star WRS and RBs. LSU's O-line was not good and had a young QB. USC had a young QB and looked what that team did. It takes everything coming together to achieve greatness.
