He was one of my favorite players of all time. He single handedly made me become a huge fan of LSU. Watching all of these videos of his political and religious views just make me sick. Not standing for the National Anthem...Hating what America stands for, but capitalizing off of it all the way to the bank...What a misguided soul. I just can't look at him the same. If you hate the U.S. so much, GET THE @#%$ out. If you plan to stay, show some freaking respect!

Bill Hicks on patrotism:

Fan: "Are you proud to be an American?"

Hicks: "Uhh, it's where my parents fricked. Other than that I really didn't have a lot of choice in the matter."

I don't agree with what he stands for, but I agree in him taking a stand.

Not sure how anyone who truly embraces freedom could have a real problem with what Rauf did.

Well, I have a problem with idiots and propagandists and apologists for 13th century mind-sets, so....

I agree w/ your statement. When did CJ last play? He was black balled by the league. Sometimes its not the best player or best coaches. Its a business and perception is reality in most cases. Sad.

And the overall response from this board just goes to show you how we are at this point in our country today.

I don't have a problem with him taking a stand, but it is in the manor that he did it. Reaping the benefits of this wonderful country and then spit at it...

"I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way"

Couldn't be said any better.

I'm glad we try not to hate people based on their religion or beliefs.

greetings td...obviously, i don't post very often as this is only my thrid post. however, i do frequent td as much as some of the most rabid lsu fans. that said, i just can't pass on the opportunity to comment on the subject matter at hand, given that chris jackson/mahmoud abdul-rauf is not only my favorit lsu athelet, but one of my top five all-time PERIOD!

cj/mar was clearly ahead of his time. he absolutely ABUSED the greatest bb player EVER (reference the attached link)! when they finally decided to save mike the embarrassment, stockton and harper got it worse. if cj/mar walked into a gym crowded with today's nba all-stars, they'd wanna grab the ball, women, and kids and head for the hills-political/religious differences aside. i challenge u guys to watch the entire youtube 3/3 episode without wanting to tear up. have a great day!
