When you're playin' three on five, the other team is gonna shut down your scorers.

collis has or had a pulse on any kid in the area that is good enough. we just let the best kid from around here go to temple and the 2nd best kid go to oklahoma state. its no different than football we have as much talent in this state as anywhere. no reason to look much further. you have to have a tyrus thomas, brandon bass, stromile swift, marcus thornton, daryl mitchell, even a glen davis although glen was not a dominator, nor is tasmin, those other guys could change the game. you have to have one or two studs to compete. you have to recruit a certain type of kid to play in the sec, i just dont see us doing that. the nba has the college game so screwed up, its hard to build a program, every kid out there wants to play in the nba. the days of what florida did are over, duke hasnt gotten out the sweet sixteen in a long time, brady had some down years for one reason or another but he also won the sec twice and went to the final four. the year he got fired was because he lost tasmin for the year, if tasmin doesnt get hurt he is still here and we wouldnt have lost that class he had coming in, randolph would have stayed too.
cause he knew how good the team was going to be the next year. that team with randolph last year could have beaten north carolina. i think lsu bb is close to where to dale brown left us, only not probation. i hope tj can get it back going again, i just hope he will be able to handle a tuff stretch in the next couple of years, everyone is a hero when you inherent the team he had last year.

You act as if those kids would have instantly come to LSU if asked. Truth is that even with the Final Four a few years ago and the SEC title last season, LSU is not a basketball "destination." It will take some time and short term sacrifice in order to build the type of program that will be long-term successful.

With the addition of facilities (which were sorely lacking) and a new direction from the coaching standpoint, LSU is a couple of recruiting classes from being a solid, year in-year out NCAA team.

It will take him a few years to get a full board of program players. Plus Lsu is on the verge of losing schollys due to graduation rate. Must get 4 year starters to offset that. Once Program players are in full swing Trent can go after one and dones to put the team over the top. think Long Term. Trent is building this team as if he plans on being here 15 years not 3

Pargraphs and punctuation may make this easier to read. With that said, I'm not reading all of that.

I disagree with this. There is a great amount of talent around this area, but it is not year in and year out. Years like last year and this year prove we need to reach out to other states and be a national recruiter. Lock down LA when they have SEC-caliber players, but be able to reach out and grab a recruit or two from outside the borders when you need to.

How can you give Brady NO blame. All...I could understand that, but to give him none is ignorant

tj won with bradys talent last year, and he is still playing with bradys players,

Ok so he won last year with a VERY good team and is left with a group of Bradys players that are bad...hhmmm now Who recruited Bradys players?

quote:

brady had a top five class the year he was fired they all decommitted.

Kinda Bradys fault ya think?

quote:

brady put more kids in the nba in six years than dale brown did in 25

Yet Brady didnt do shite with the talent. Yeah he went to the Final Four but that team was beyond LOADED
quote:

you have to recruit top players every year and for us to think recruiting four year players we will be better next year is a joke, true freshman are not very dependable in their first year unless you get a top ten kid of which we dont have one in the top 20.

You just contradicted yourself. We have to recruit top players but those top players arent dependable? TJ is doing it right by getting top talent that will stay and doing so he gets senior experience and kids understand his phylosophy better as they progress

If you think Brady was more than a recruiter than you are an idiot. Him and Butch did a great job of getting kids to LSU but a terrible job of COACHING them. Isnt that what he is paid to do COACH

TJ will be in SEC Championship and Sweet 16 within 3 or 4 years book it. Dont be surprised if we make a big run in the next few years

The problem with this team is we have nobody who can create their own shot. We go through long droughts of not scoring when our offense is not moving the ball. Put a scorer like Marcus Thornton on this team and we would be in the tournament.

There is no such thing as "top" talent who will stay. If you get the "top" talent, they will leave, but you will win some titles while they are here. If you don't get the "top" talent, get ready to be Vanderbilt. Firing Brady was boneheaded. You better hope to see 3 SEC titles and a Final Four in the next 10 years.

TJ sacrificed this year for next year. They could've given out more scholarships but chose not to. They saved some of them for next years crop.

I talked to Ricky Blanton the other day and he said the guys coming in next year are really really good and you'll see a vast improvement in the team next year.

Johnson has had two years to add to the Brady holdovers for this season.. He signed Chris Bass, Aaron Dotson and Eddie Ludwig for a coolective 9 PPG. No, it is not Brady's fault.

Brady left a good nucleus in Taz, Spencer, Warren, Harris, it was Johnson's job to build around them.

winning 2 SEC titles, three SEC West crowns and going to a final four and Sweet 16 plus recruiting another SEC title team in a 7 year span is quite an accomplishment. Why not compare this record to the rest of the SEC during that period?

So, you want lsu to sign a couple of shitty players in this past recruiting class to go with 1 or 2 stars? Have a good season, then after the stars leave, fall down to the basement of the SEC for a couple years, get another one and done, compete and keep recycling? That's exactly what brady did, tried it, it can be fun at times.....but that'll get you fired after awhile.

You dont think Brady was recruiting those guys when he was here?

Harris blows BTW and Spencer doesnt have to right attitude which Brady should have known when recruiting him.

Obviously you are missing my point. Brady had the talent to do this and more, but he is a TERRIBLE COACH. To think otherwise is ignorant. If you know any phylosophy about basketball you would understand Brady was horrible at coaching.

The part you and Brady bashers always conveniently ignore is that LSU was not in position to be picky given the effects of draconian sanctions on the heels of the decline in Dale Brown's last four seasons. This made them more vulnerable to stars leaving for the NBA after a year or two. Instead of appreciating what was accomplished you would rather create some fantasy that Johnson is signing these high character program players who will stay four years. Nothing wrong with this, per se, but you might want to ask Vanderbilt how many SEC titles and Final Fours they have in the past decade.
