Why do people get so upset about movie remakes? I just don't get it. No one is forcing you to watch the new version. Remakes, for the most part, suck. I concede that much. However, I don't get upset by remakes because I do not go see the new version. The old version will still be around for you to enjoy, so why do you care if a film is remade for a new generation? Is it going to make you like the original film less?

Would you repaint the Mona Lisa?

Nope.

Don't remake the classics.

If you don't know why people get pissed over remakes, then most likely you will never understand.

I have no problem with remakes. It's just I think they shouldn't be attempted unless the makers are certain they can make a film as good or better than the original.

If anything, the remake brings attention to the original. This increases awareness for a movie that some consider classic, but others probably wouldn't have been interested in otherwise.

The worst are people complaining about how Hollywood is "raping their childhood" by adapting cartoons from the 80s. They act like Transformers or GI Joe cartoons were anything more than ridiculous over the top entertainment for kids.
