WojYahooNBA The Kings will send a conditional future second round pick and cash to Hornets for Hilton Armstrong

WojYahooNBA
Obviously, the move is a salary dump on Armstrong's $2.8 million salary. This gets Hornets within $500K of luxury tax threshold. 4 minutes ago from web

I don't understand how this in any way benefits the Kings.

Either BilJ can't read, or he doesn't know the definition of a lottery pick.

Sweet! Hilton seemed like a great guy, just never had the skills of a 1st round lottery pick.

I think this should be the last straight salary dump they make. First Butler and now Armstrong gets them close to the luxury tax threshold and takes some pressure off to force a bigger deal. Hopefully if they make another deal, it will be with DWest (and hopefully MoPete) and will bring back some better payroll flexibility.

I didn't really give a frick about hilton armstrong getting traded so I didn't read much in the OP

I also didn't expect anyone to take me seriously and feel the need to correct me

Good move by the Hornets. Getting real close to the tax line...

Hilton needed a change of venue. Not sure what he does for the Kings, though.

They are resigned to the fact that they are not going a superstar in free agency no matter how much money they have and are intent to use the trade deadline as their own free agency.

The extra 2.8 million dollar expiring contract can be combined with Kenny Thomas' and Mikki Moore's to make the Kings the #1 destination for teams looking to dump talent for expirings. The fact that they may be willing to combine Martin or Hawes with a boatload of expirings gives them a chance to land a superstar before the trade deadline.
