Crowton and Chavis both were victoms of poor lines. We had the worst lines of any LSU team this decade.
No running game and zero pass protection = no offense.
Blitz on thrird down and never getting to the QB = 3rd and Chavis.
If we can improve the lines with the new faces next year, we will see drastic improvement on both sides of the ball.

Due in large part to almost zero push up the middle. When you have a disrupter drawing double-teams at the point of attack, your blitz packages will have a much higher efficiency rate. That should come next year with Davenport, Brockers and Montgomery hitting the field.

How did our lines get to this level of sucktitude?

And isn't the coaching staff responsible for recruiting and developing the lines?

The key word is DRASTIC. The improvement will have to be drastic because that is how fundamently unsound both lines were from a personnel and technique perspective. Major shake up of players and coaches needs to occur. Miles needs to get angry and instead of patting them on the butt, he needs to kick some butt.
