I"m just gonna say that Garret looked very good at the spring game. Seems to be accurate with his passes and has good size

my bad... got a little heated when i was typing...
its his first year either way.
he played JUCO.... its not that much different then highschool....
He still made strides against improving competition either way...
The only JUCO sport that is relevant is baseball... all the others basically suck. sorry, its just does.

To guys with a quick release and quick ability to scan the field, that's enough time to eat a sammich, take a dump, and then complete a pass.

It will be near impossible to beat out JJ, however if JJ goes down sometime in the season and Garrett shines then maybe he takes over.

He never played JUCO. He went to Alabama after high school and has now been there for 4 years.

CG would have to be phenominal for this to happen.
NOt saying that JJ is anything close to that, however he has expericne and I really dont hwant to go for 3 straight yrs of green qb starting.

However if hes a player he's a player.
Not looking for it to happen though.

Im not gonna say JJ sucks, but Im not really looking forwd to a better offense next year and maily b/c he is gonna still be under center.
He is avg at best, best thing we can hope for is that he makes tremendous strides in the offseason.

This is true...
Freshman QBs make impacts all over the country, albeit to lesser competition, but still they look like they have a clue as to what is happening. And looking at Mcelroy, he looked bad at the beginning, but the kid is obviously making strides.... JJ, nothing obviously standing out that has to do with improvement over the last 1.5 seasons.... pocket presence is just atrocious.

those teams have a running game, which takes away alot of the responsibility of these inexperienced QBs.. LSU has the worst running game in the SEC and probably the country.. as long as this continues you'll see the same type of mistakes out of our young QBs because you're basically asking these these kids as freshmen and sophomores to carry an offense on their shoulders which is unheard of in any collegiate football program.. unless you want to corrupt another young player as we did JLee then i suggest some of you stop pointing the finger at JJ and start looking at some of the bigger issues with this offense

I think it is because alot of fans believe we will have the same win loss record despite who starts at qb. So if CG looks better in the spring/fall then give him a shot. I for one believe this... if JJ looks better and improves by the fall then he should be the starter but it is just my opinion that he won't. So make it open and see what happens.

I'm sorry 60% completion rating isn't good enough for you. Give the kid a half way decent o line and he's gold.

you know I hear middle school football players have the same numbers throwing 5 yard passes all year...ooooops...are we still talking about JJ?

Agreed, I could have 60% throwing the bubble screens

One of the best receiving corps in the nation? They run horrible routes and have a hell of a time getting open. Very little separation. I'm not a big JJ fan and would love to see Garret get a chance because I think he's the real deal and the future, but in fairness to JJ a lot of his sacks came from nobody being open. His hesitation came from that a lot of the time. He should have thrown a lot more balls away and that's his fault, but I blame a lot of his troubles on his receivers.

I think JJ wanting to wait till the reciever is open by 4 steps is what caused his sacks.

While jj seems to be in a daze most of his time on the field and we did have the worst offence in the south eastern conference. Its not fair to judge any offencive player while crowten is still our oc...the whole team looks lost.I would like to see them at least give someone else a chance at it tho.Other teams have played freshman qb and have done pretty good

Absolutely. Go back and watch the ole miss game. Or any other game for that matter. UF, Bama, UL Monroe.
