THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Charlie Stubbs, who has coached for more than 31 years, will take over as the football coach at Nicholls State.
The school announced on Tuesday that Stubbs, offensive coordinator at the University of Central Missouri, would replace Jay Thomas.
Stubbs has been an offensive coordinator at a host of schools over the last 14 years, which includes six years as an assistant head coach.
At Central Missouri, Stubbs' offense finished ranked first in the MIAA conference in passing offense both seasons. UCM finished 2009 with an 8-3 record and a second place finish in the conference.
Stubbs also spent four seasons in the Southeastern Conference as the quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator at Alabama. Stubbs' offenses led the Crimson Tide to appearances in the 1998 Music City Bowl and the Orange Bowl in 1999. Alabama also won the SEC Championship that season, and Stubbs was named the 1999 SEC Offensive Coordinator of the Year.
Interesting hire.
