What does "start over mean" If it really means LSU "starts over" it sounds like the scenario before Saban was here.

It means get a new head coach. Whether or not the assistants stay is totally dependent on the hire. I'd hope a guy like Cooper would stay regardless.

There is another scenario: we fire Miles and hire an dumb arse and stay down for the foreseable future. Just because we hire a new coach, that doesn't guarantee our rise to the promise land of college football.

Look at Lane Tiffin; is anyone impressed with him? The vols made the change and I think they hired the wrong man. What do they do now?

C. LSU wins 6+ regular season SEC games next season and wins the SECw and hopefully the SECCG. Michigan goes 5-7 and fires RR. Miles goes to Michigan. LSU hires Gary Patterson as it's next head coach.

He's pretty consistent when it comes to medium range field goals, but his long distance kicking ability is shaky IMO.

This is very true. A lame duck hire is always possible, but I think you have to be brave enough to take a chance instead of staying idle with average/good results.

This is the concern of many. I wouldn't start over just to start over. Fans point to Nebraska and Solich. Well, they hired Callahan. Firing Solich wasn't the problem. Solich is coaching at Ohio (yes, the juggernaut of Ohio University) and in 5 seasons has 2 winning seasons. Florida fired Zook with 8-5, 8-5, 7-5 seasons and hired Meyer.

It's who you hire, not who you fire.

Replace Miles with an elite coach, Patterson would be my choice, and you will see the difference.

unless there is another Urban Meyer out there, and there isn't, i would stay with Miles. We look to be in good shape going into next season. Hopefully this ship gets righted.

I would choose option B with the caveat that we would replace Miles with a Brian Kelly/Bob Stoops caliber coach.

and you guys can call me a bandwagon fan all you want, I don't care. What is good for LSU is to get a coach that doesn't:

a)blow timeouts at the worst time
b)discriminate against freshmen/sophmore players even if they might be better than their Jr./Sr. counterparts
c)sound like a babbling idiot in his press conferences

could not agree more. problem for miles is the 2 ton elephant sitting in tuscaloosa. (pun intended) 1st weekend in november speeds up the already ticking bomb strapped to the miles regime. must beat bama and must win in november. look at the last 2 yrs in nov. losing to nutt, petrino? losing record in nov./losing s.e.c. record. dont give me 2007 n.c. crap! that may ave been 10 yrs ago when we have reached mediocrity. should not happen.

We will take turns with Bama dominating the SEC West just like Saban did with Auburn.

Unfortunately, B is the only way LSU gets rid of Miles. So, B.

That's why I posted option C. I woke up early on a difficult day for me if you read my early morning post on 1/1/2010 and cheered for my LSU Tigers until the final whistle. Then went and visited my father's grave.

LSU > Miles.

Displeasure with Miles does not equate to not supporting LSU regardless of how many times the mindless drones try to spin it that way.

B is a bad answer for any fan to pick b/c the poster never said in "starting over" guarantees new head coach success and W's in their schedules. Look how many new coaches looked like the best hire for a decent program and ended up being fired a few years after the end of the season (Weis, Zook, etc.).

So my logical answer would be A.

chose B FWIW. I love LSU and want the best for the program long term. I don't think we are going anywhere with Les, and what irks me more is the amount of talent that we are squandering with mediocre seasons.

I agree. It will be painfull for one year, but it would be better then the slow painfull death we are facing now.

I'll vote on this statement.............I would be satisfied with a 10-2 regular season in 2010

lose the wrong 2 and you might not win the west.

2nd place is 1st place loser.

All true fans will chose A

Why? That's just not true. True fans seek excellence and status for their alma mater. Choice A puts LSU in a situation, not of just complete mediocrity, but of no significant accomplishment ever...for the next decade or 2. I mean...Choice B made us the program we are today (er...were 2 years ago). What if we hadn't fired Dinardo? Would you be on Tigerdroppings? Would there be a Tigerdroppings?
