This is Ridiculous...

I know there's a feeling of worry for many, and a lot of negative thoughts for the future, but some of these posts are ridiculous. I'm not here to support Miles or Crowton or anyone but the term "passionate football fans" has lost all meaning, it's quickly turning to "overly obsessive". I know it's hard right now, and to be honest as a young LSU fan I've never experienced years like the last two. But I feel I'm handling it more maturely than 75% of this board, and some of you guys are grown arse men. And it's not just football, it's basketball. Hell, I'm surprised I haven't heard that our basketball program should be thrown out, or what's going to happen if we don't win the CWS? or we might as well move to the conference USA because our football team is going to the "shitter", even though we won a NC two years ago and have been ranked in the top 5 for as much as half the season this year. Even though we come in with top 5 and at least top 10 recruiting classes. Were in the top 5 in players representing us in the NFL, and we've had what, 5 years a player drafted in the first round and should hopefully continue this year. Come on it could be much worse. I was born in Seattle, WA and was grown up a very passionate UW fan. They were very good and competed for the Pac-10 and Rose Bowl every year, and out of the blue the Neuhesiel gambling investigation came out and look what happened. They maybe won 5 games in 3 years, one year they only won one game. My point is things could be much worse, we won't let it get to that point, but there's plenty, and I mean plenty of programs more than 50 that would love to be in our situation. And to quote "negatigers", I'm not a "positiger" i'm a realist! get over it!!!!, and look at the brightside baseball is coming up, then spring football starts with a clean slate.

Chalk it up to human nature. When you win two NC's in a 5 year span, fans tend to get upset and negative as a result if you don't compete for a NC. That's just the nature of the beast.Always has been and always will be, unfortunately. Just ask "Smoke."

You hit the nail on the head. It's more than the nature of the beast. It's a generation of fans who started following the team in 2004 and now have unrealistic expectations for a National Championship each and every year. I want a title every year, but that's not happening. Now granted I am very ticked off about this year and I am not satisfied with 9 win seasons. But it has to be addressed that far too often there are people on this board who never are satisfied with LSU regardless of a W or L. I am blown away on the whining that takes place on this rant. Believe me I know LSU football may be in trouble, but still. Good post.

Wrong !
I have been a season ticket holder since '69...
most of you were not born...
yet SOME of you DO NOT WANT TO GET IT....
blind, dumb, stupid, I do not know.....
IT IS NOT about the Ws and Ls .....
IT IS ABOUT THE WAY in which the Ls are coming....
and even the Ws.
I certainly remember the years when I was glad to go 9-3 (even 8-4)....I did it because I recognized the level of ability, etc.... but even when we lost, we played HARD and usually SMART (with the talent we had)
We DO NOT PLAY "hard and smart" right now.
So NO, I am not satisfied.
Last night Michigan St. lost, yet I will guess that no one is bitching about the "L", because it is not about that.
They had lost "14" players from the team and played "hard".
That IS NOT TOO MUCH TO ASK...we are paying this coach almost $ 4 MM.

You hit the nail on the head. The players often play hard, but, do they ever play smart?
You like to watch a team that plays hard and smart for 4 Quarters. That's something that LSU football fans have not seen for a while.

I was born in Wisconsin but raised in br. Graduated from lsu and have been a tiger fan since 1978. What we are seeing now is not necessarily the decline of our football team but the decline of our fanbase.
The fans of the badgers have fun drink and support their team. Our fans get drunk bitch and moan and leave games early win or lose.
Shameful.

I dont think that it is because the number of losses that have hit LSU or the fact that LSU hasnt competed for the National Championship the last 2 years. Its the manner in which the Tigers have lost during the MIles years. Granted, Hadnt been like some of the Losses we had under Stovall, Archer, Hallman and Dinardo, but remember the program has come a long way since then. Even Saban had some strange losses i.e. UAB, the Arkansas game in the prevent defense that cost us the SEC championship, the Iowa game, but it just seems like that a lot of games under Miles , you leave the stadium scratching your head in either a loss or a win.

It's called crappy performaces regardless of record, however even our record smells of mediocrity. Wanna tell me it does not? Go look at how many losses in successive seasons got ron zook run out of UF. 4 and 5 loss seasons. One more for les and he is HISTORY.

I'm more dissapointed in the field conditions of the Cap 1 bowl than I am about the loss to Penn State. After the BCS bowls, the cap 1 bowl is the next highest paying bowl. I know both teams had to play on it and i'm not bitching about that, but more about a player getting seriously hurt on that field, wet or dry. In all of Fla, that was the BEST field and stadium they could find? They planted new sod 3 weeks before, and after a monsoon they could have used escavators to repair some of those divots. Week in and week out, we've seen how Miles has loss his memory on coaching, and has even gotten stubborn on alot of things, but what I'm more worried about is losing recruits by playing senority over BEST athlete. How can he go into a recruits home and explain his reasoning about how he will play his freshman yr only to sit the bench. How will this affect a recruit on visits when paired with other players? Will they disguise the problem or will they tell all?..time will tell I guess...

thanks, dude. i concur. i agree.
if you look at the history of lsu football, we just had the greatest decade of our storied history. we had amazing luck for both n.c. but we were the winners.
did you see the sec in the bowls this year? there is more parity than negatigers want to admit. there is tremendous parity in the sec. i now so want al to beat tx. another sec great.
the ranturds are still supporting the criminal antics of perrilloux. these are kids. my high school coach just dis'd miles, and he never had a winning season!!! wow, i guess that makes him feel good.
also, remember, this is the internet. i've retired and gotten addicted to this blogging. this blogging is a way to justify an otherwise useless uneventful life. bloggers live thru this electronic validation and when they can disrespect miles and young men, they just continue the abuse they were brought up with.
and, believe me, most of the negatigers are alcoholics, drug addicts or very overweight.

sorry, not wanting to be rude
but what a stupid and irrelevant response..
....not even on the same subject.
may be you should layoff the alcohol and drugs.
here it is in simple form...
IT IS NOT ABOUT THE RECORD.
IT IS ABOUT THE PERFORMANCES.

I'll have to disagree here. I have long been supportive of Miles. I actually like his quirkiness, but I don't like a trending pattern in the program. This year show the lack of coaching being done within this program. Our nine wins, other then Auburn, came with a heart attack every game. It shouldn't be that way. Clock management was bad. Personnel management was bad and I'll use the Hitt v. Hurst argument. The trend is in a downward slope and doesn't look to be progressing.
And,
quote:is the worst example ever used in the history of bad examples. He almost single handedly destroyed the baseball program.
Just ask "Smoke.

I remember listening to the LSU games in the 60's and 70's with dad on an AM transistor radio. We lost several games and plenty of disappointing seasons. I can remember dad throwing the radio when we lost. There's always next year!

Good post JBreaux and what coach can we get now and give him a 2 year contract to win NC or we don't renew but if he wins we will renew for one more year provided he keeps winning NCs

Good post. People that don't understand this don't understand the process. It's like anything else in life, you must manage the little details properly or the big problems will bite you square in the arse. This is what Saban instilled in this program, and this is what I thought that we (Fanbase) finally understood and knew what needed to happen from that point forward to prevent us from ever going back down the road we came from.
The following trends are a strong indication that the details are not being minded:
1. Offsides and Procedure Penalties
2. Toughness (Short yardage failures in the past 2 years)
3. Mismanagement of talent
4. Dropped balls
5. Missed Tackles
6. Personal Foul Penalties
7. Time management, preparedness
Faltering on these items leads to what we witnessed over the past two years. It doesn't matter whether we fix the play calling, sooner or later the mismanagement of the little details will cost us. It starts at the top, anyone who says otherwise has never worked for a successful organization in a challenging environment.

MonroeTiger...
I agree 100 %
I had posted this elsewhere...
but I think we are saying pretty much the same:
----------------------------------
Years back,I coached a couple of sports, and some very good coaches told me a couple of things....
1)you will see in the game that which you demand in practice.
2)practice does not make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect..practice something wrong, and you will learn it wrong.
3)the Ws and Ls, will come because of the small details, not the big issues.
I have for years now I have seen a team that does not practice with DISCIPLINE (Ex. Penalties(offsides-clock management, etc in the game) and does not pay attention to the small details (Ex. dropped passes/interceptions---lack of follow-thru, improper technique, etc.)...
you must, thru repetition, have this things become part of your psychic or you will not be able to automatically perform them under pressure.
That's coaching, and we do not do it...for whatever reason...but we do not pay attention to details..
IMO is the nonchalant (low key) attitude of coaches....Miles, seems to be more worried about being liked, than anything else.
