want him to stay will say his replacement is a better coach.

Why they fail to realize now LSU can do much better than Chavis and his departure isn't a big deal is kinda weird.

Since he's not leaving this is a moot point...but i wouldve waited to see what his replacement did before i judged...unlike 99.9999% of the people here who automatically assume we could get a better coach.

Chavis is a really good defensive coordinator. this is like when lou tepper was sucking terribly and everyone wanted to fire morris watts. if we had an offense to match our defense this year we're possible a one loss team right now. 12th nationally in scoring D is more than adequate for us to win and win big here. offense HAS to catch up next season.

no, the point remains the same whether he leaves or not...THAT is the point

it is prety silly how so many people here will sway their opinions of someone b/c they do or don't coach/play for LSU

The second Joe Mccknight announced he was going to USC, he wouldn't fit in our offense. It isn't surprising thought, just making note of it.

i wouldn't have to wait to see who they hired to know LSU can land a better defensive coordinator than Chavis

whether they would have or not is a different story, but chavis is an adequate coach with elite talent. I have no doubts, and neither should anyone else, hat LSU could land a much better d-coord. Its just a question of would they or not.

he's probably one of the top 30 in the country, i'd agree and say he's really good

i'd also say the same thing about miles. he's probably a top 30 coach...really good considering the amount of d1 teams, BUT i am in no way fooled into thinking that is the best LSU can do with the coaching staff

Many people will always assume that the coaching staff can be better, no matter who it is. Im not saying it cant improve because it definitely can, but why take the risk when the current staff is pretty damn good....except at OC, IMO.

Not weird... What you fail to realize is that LSU can also do much worse than Chavis... in fact, we did MUCH worse than Chavis just last year.

how does me acknowldeging the fact that chavis isn't the best LSU can do makes me not realize Chavis isn't the worst LSU can do?

Not once did i ever say, or insinuate Chavis is the worst LSU can do.

i'm not saying fire chavis, i'm just saying losing him wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. LSU can do better.

MANY, MANY people would agree if Chavis would have decided to leave after we hired the new guy (out of sheer blind LSU faith), but I don't think it is a bad thing to acknowledge Chavis isn't an elite d-coord, and LSU can most certainly get one if they tried.

I'm just curious as to who you think LSU could attract that is better, why they would leave their current job, and how their pay would compare to what they are making and what it would take? I'll hang up and listen ...

damn, i'm glad i'm LSU. you are correct about us being a coveted place to coach. just think about Texas Tech; they're screwed. getting another quality coach to Lubbock probably ain't gonna happen in my lifetime.

Heck with that, they're going to sign Rich Rodriguez.
