I started a thread along these lines the day the Barksdale story broke. It looks awfully stange to me the way they can't wait to report anything about LSU in a bad way. I swear I have never bought into the whole ESPN hates LSU thhing, but it sure seems to me they do have an agenda to hurt us anyway they can. I know it borders on paraniod thinking but look at the past couple of years and the way they tried to cover up their frick up of the Les Miles story. I think they have been mad at Miles and LSU since.

The college football analysts on ESPN HATE Les Miles, and dislike LSU b/c Les Miles is LSU's coach. They pick on Les Miles LITERALLY every time they even mention him or LSU.

I don't know why, but you've gotta believe it's because Miles made their boy Herbie look like a stupid frick.

Add to that the attention that was given to the "mass exodus" during the fourth quarter of the Arkansas game. The announcer said "there were 93,000 people here at the start, and about 20,000 have left". The fact is, there were about 15,000 no shows (heard that figure this week from TigerBait). Yes, people left in the fourth and, yes, it looked bad, but it wasn't nearly as bad as it was presented by the national media.

ESPN has grown far to powerful, and I've heard people on this board say ESPN doesn't care a rats arse about LSU, and I have tended to agree, but it sure is odd the way they have reacted to our slump of course if we come out of it and start playing the way we have in the past they will have to aknowledge that. But I do not see them showing how USC has fallen from grace and I don't recall them making headlines of how bad Alabama had gotten under Shula. If they do have agenda and our trying negatively protray our program then that can be hard thing to overcome public relations wise nationally.

These things are actually good for LSU. It means we're relevant. As much as it hurt at the time, in retrospect the Ole Miss debacle is pretty funny even to me. Of course it's funny to outside folks as well. It's not a big deal. Apparently, it hasn't kept any kids from wanting to play for LSU/Miles. I don't see how a lot of you guys' self-esteem is so wrapped up in what Jim-Bob from Timbucktu thinks of our coach. Who gives a shite.

ESPN has a strong Big 10 bias, and so does the media in general. This is largely because the Big 10 schools have a long standing tradition of teaching journalism, and have "high powered" schools of journalism that (and this is a no-brainer) produce lots of journalists. The Big 10 has had to suck mightily to get any criticism at all.

Add to that Herbie, who hates the SEC and LSU in particular so bad that he tried to deep six LSU's national championship hopes in 2007 by "leaking" the Miles to Michigan story.

But there are pro-SEC guys too. Still, LSU has always been in the shadow of Alabama and Florida because of their two legendary coaches.

The bias coverage of ESPN against LSU is obvious. I know everybody jokes with the "ESPN hates LSU" moniker but facts are facts. Yes, I think it has to do with a hatred of Les Miles based on the Herbstreit debacle. I don't watch Gameday anymore unless it's at a game involving LSU. I record it and just watch the LSU coverage sections.

FWIW: "I hate ESPN". Give me a break. What is so great about Fowler, Herbstreit, Corso, etc. It's all showbiz with those a--holes anyway. No real journalistic integrity whatsoever.

F**k Herbie and the rest of the nation that hates on the TIGAHS. We all know that Herpies is pissed at Miles because he made him look like a dumbass in 2007. ESPN will be really pissed when we put that good ole arse whipping on Joe P and Penn State.

I suspect at the ESPN Staff meetings the first topic of discussion every Monday morning is, how do we stir up the ranters this week.
