I think it really shows how good his rep is in this state.
He didn't really get a lot of big time guys when he was at out of state schools (he got some good players though) but he was ALWAYS in on the cream of the crop in LA..it was just that staying at home won out.

I think his LA ties were the main reason he got the job. Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave after we sign this class. Miles knew he had to lock down Louisiana, especially the NO area. Wilson is especially popular in SE Louisiana, not just NO area.

Meh...I don't see that happening. Not after just one year.
Keep in mind, he's still an "up and coming" coach. He's got a lot more clout in LA than anywhere else in the country, and he's got to prove that he can do more than recruit LA if he wants to move somewhere big time.
That being said, he IS coaching for the big time now, and he's home and will slay recruiting constantly.
Only reason he leaves anytime soon is for a BIG move up, IMO.

My Bro in law who is a HS Head Coach in the Shreveport area played with Coach Wilson at Nicholls and has kept up with him. (Has him on cell) Says he is a great coach technique wise and a great recruiter. Was not surprised by his hire at LSU and says he will continue to rise in his coaching carreer. My brother in law who follows what he call's winners...Bear Bryant (read all his books Saban books ect) says Frank Wilson is just a winner. FWIW

See that makes very little sense considering his salary at Tennessee. I have always assumed that was something that Tennessee writers said to make the fans feel better about their coaching situation.
