I called into Rivals Radio this morning and asked Bill to make me an optimist about Gary Crowton.

He said he can't do it. He thinks the Gonzales hire is an "OC in waiting" move. He also said that LSU is completely whizzing away its offensive talent.

Nothing new, but I was hoping that his outsider's perspective might give me reason to believe.

He's right and I totally agree about Gonzales being the OC in waiting. I believe the reason Crowton is staying is b/c Gonzales has no experience as an OC.

OC in waiting I assume means Crouton would stay until or if he gets another gig after the bowl game?

Still not sold on Crowton staying (unless you mean just for the bowl). If Gonzales is the new OC, fine.

Bill King is a Tennessee guy all the way. He is a radio talk show host, nothing more. He can't be specific because he doesn't know.
He was always the last one to report on transgrssions by Uthug players.
He was also very skeptical when LSU hired Saban doubting he was worth the money because he had no southern ties.

All true. Bill has been wrong more times than not about the LSU program.

Bill King is a hillbilly and the Tennessee version of "sonny".

Sure - he's just a talking head. He's a pretty knowledgable college football guy though.

I don't really sense any biases from him. I wish he were pro-playoffs though.

Not going to happen for 2010. It appears that Les has made that fairly clear.

I listen every morning but was late today and missed it. I'll catch the replay.

I mostly listen to Howard Stern, but I listen to Bill a fair amount - mostly somewhere from 8:30-9:30 Eastern.

Bill King is playing to his audience. He and Bob (Big Orange Homer) Bell once hosted a talk show on WLAC in Nashville. They seldom mentioned any team west of the Alabama line.

Fyi, this guy has no inside info. It's just an opinion. He likes to state it as fact for the dramatic effect.

Impossible to argue with this if you've seen any game this year
