How great is it that Porter won't be coaching in bowl game?

Porter was a proxy for Les Miles. I think this is great!
Porter is emblematic of the Les Miles/Gary Crowton stale, tired, unproductive offense that we have seen so far this year. Porter controls all of the RB decisions (how much to play RS for instance) and some of the lame decisions we have seen from the clusterfrick Offense like not allowing talented players to see the field over non productive juniors and seniors.
Gonzales is now free to come in and influence the way our offense runs without Porter overriding him. As we all know, Porter was a loyal Les Miles solider and most likely a "Les yes man".
With KW/CS hurt, do we see Drayton Calhoun? (finally!) do we see Trindon running the sweep and option to the open side of the field? Do we see RS running the option, option pass, and Wildcat (not the simple VEER that some mistake for the true Wildcat). Do we see Ridley really cut loose and allowed to do more than dive plays?
I am starting to get a little more fired up about the bowl game now. With Gonzales now able to come in and influence Crowton without the interference of Porter/Miles, we might actually get to see what these athletes are truly capable of doing for once

But he lets his coaches run the show.
Some new blood coming in here can do nothing but good. See the defense from last to this year.

I was a huge positger, then went to the darkside and became a negatiger, now I'm moving to more of a centrist position.

True, this next year will be make or break for miles. We'll see if all these new coaches actually pay off in terms of "coaching up" the players.

You want to burn a redshirt on the Cap One bowl?

crowton on the headset: larry let's get KW in the next series and give him a few carries
porter on the headset: no
crowton: ok

porter on the headset: gary WTF are you doing? I told you to run more off set I because that is what I want. Don't make me come up there.
crowton: ok
FYI:
quote:
In addition to his duties as LSU’s running backs coach, Porter serves in two other key roles on the staff - assistant head coach and chief recruiter. Porter was elevated to the position of assistant head coach during the spring of 2006. He’s twice (2007 and 2009) been named as the National Recruiter of the Year by Rivals.com making him one of the top all-around assistant coaches in college football.
you severely over estimate Porter's "coaching" influence and you don't seem to understand what his real focus at LSU was.
ETA: and the Asst Head Coach title is basically a made up position that allows LSU to justify paying more money to a guy that is mainly a recruiter and is so good at it that he was honored for recruiting twice.

I don't think you're going to see too much different for the bowl game. Maybe a few little new wrinkles here and there, and hopefully they will scratch the short side option play that has never worked.
But next year, I really think Gonzales will find ways to utilize Shepard effectivley, besides running the same play with him like Crowton did. The one thing that worries me about next year is Crowton calling the plays, but hopefully Miles won't be hesistant to hand the playcalling to Gonzales if Crowton continues to try and force things that dont' work.

I believe Porter was a great recruiter, but a crappy coach that played players against each other. Porter mainly decided what RB was on the field. He tended to be negative and punitive toward his palyers even to the point of embarassing them on the sidelines. Show me a few interviews where he praised his players ??? Porter will need to change his act if he wants to be a success at Memphis.

you're either on the bus or you're off the bus.
you happen to be all over the bus.
LSU football...the cure for emotional stability.
