Guys it seems to me the LSU Football program has cancer. We went in after last season and replaced the defensive staff, which Miles hand picked. Now we are going back in and removing more cancer, this time on the offensive side of the ball. The problem is not the coordinators its the lack of discipline and poor head coaching! How many Les Miles Assistants, other than Larry Porter, who is a great recruiter, are getting quality head coaching jobs? Bo Pelini doesnt count, he was at Nebraska before.
Any idea why? Everyone in the know is aware that Les Miles is an extremely mediocre coach! Saban Assistants get jobs, Jimbo Fisher, Will Muschamp...........??

Jimbo Fisher? For one thing, he was a Miles assistant, too. But more importantly, I doubt very seriously that Saban, a defensive coach, has anything to do with Fisher, an offensive coach, getting a head coaching job. Will Muschamp, sure, I can buy that, but not Fisher.

I'm not sure what your point is here. First you say the coordinators aren't the problem, then you make the point that Miles' assistants don't get head coaching jobs, apparently implying that they aren't that good. Either you are contradicting yourself, or you are trying to make the point that working under Miles causes the assistants to perform poorly. If you are asserting the latter, then it doesn't make sense to say...

Bo Pelini doesnt count,

He, like Fisher, served under Miles, so the Miles effect should have impacted him and Fisher just as much as the others.

I agree with you 100% that we have poor head coaching. I just don't understand your point about the assistants, and I 100% disagree with you that our coordinators (and co-coordinators) have not been a major problem these past two years.

Porter doesn't count. Pelini doesn't count. Fisher doesn't count. It seems that in your book, any coordinator who served under Miles and then goes on to a HC gig doesn't count. That's some curious thinking there chief.

It's a shame you had to use this poor rant as your very 1st post.

Jimbo wasn't worth the thought either.

Pelini left LSU to go to Nebraska. However, he came to LSU for a reason. (He thrived at LSU and this enabled him to be recognized for what he is). There has to be some credit for his success based on your argument.

Not all coordinators make great head coaches.
Crowton was a head coach before. Didn't work. This is not Les' fault.

Likewise, Chavis is not head coach material. He's a great coordinator. Porter is a great recruiter, yes. He's been replaced by another excellent recruiter in Wilson. Furthermore, we have some nice new coaches coming in. Consider Gonzales from Florida has potential as well.
