I hate to be pessimistic about this situation but I'm gonna go ahead and write off Mike Davis. Too much crap going on there and he's without a doubt lying to a bunch of people. This is a huge loss as we could have used him immediately at the slot. shite.

We will have to take him at his word that he is solid LSU. Ford and Shepard were true to their word as they had parents that developed their moral character. He either comes from a family who live by their values or he is like Janzen Jackson's family. If he is like Jackson, we don't need him. He would only be a distraction for the team.

These posts are silly. What kind of values lead people to judge the character of 17 year old kids without knowing them. None of us know all the details of these situations. Our coaches pull offers. Kids switch commitments. I don't like the way it plays out either, but it does not define a kid's character.

Your word is your bond. If your word isn't any good, then you aren't worth a tinkers damn.

And that goes the same for the LSU coaches that withdraw offers, right? Why is it that posters like you only assail the character of the recruits?

Your word is your bond. That includes everyone. You , me, coaches etc.

Doesn't matter to a true ranter.

I understand what you are trying to say but Davis knew that he truly coveted a UT offer. He shouldn't have committed to a school just to occupy a scholarship slot. Lack of character in my opinion, and I know my father wouldn't have let me do it.

Well good thing you aren't an unbelieveable athelete with top schools around the country coveting you. Not saying i wouldn't hold true to my original commitment, but he is a 17 year old kid and you don't know any of the circumstances surrounding him. Whatever happens, who are you to judge him or the charachter of his family?

Why shouldn't these players guarantee themselves at their second choice if the coaches do the same thing, ie revoke their offer when a better option becomes available? Just saying, it's easy to say lack of character, but this is not a black and white world. The situations are a little more nuanced that changed commitment=bad character. And we're always happy to accept the great players, ie Craig Loston, that change their commitments to LSU.

You are right not my position to judge and I wasn't, just stating my opinion.

I have no problem with kids decommitting I just feel that anyone who makes a Commitment and then breaks it is showing a lack of character.

So in the situation of Jai Eugene in which he decommited from Michigan because he decided he wanted or need to be close to his young son, was he displaying a lack of character? Does the commitment to his family trump the decommitment to a football program in terms of character?

Turn out the lights and sell your children into UT bondage.
