The fishy comment is pretty unwarranted and I normally defend GG but on this one his dislike showed through
I'm really mystified by his column. Like you I normally defend him. But, I mean stealing someone like Gonzales from Meyer is nothing to sneeze at. he makes it sound like not hiring Tolbert because of his LSU & La roots is the worst thing in the world. And I can't help but think that if someone else had done this, he wouldn't criticize it nearly as much.

He made a similar statement regarding the hiring of Brick Haley. After Haley was hired, Guilbeau wrote in a very slight style that Haley was on his way out of a job with the Bears when Miles picked him up.
If Guilbeau uses the term "fishy" I would expect him to offer something that would at least provide some insight in to why he would think that way. From everything I have heard, read, and seen, Gonzo is a good coach with a good track record and the Gators hate to see him leave. They don't seem to share the same feelings and thoughts regarding Adazzio. I think this may simply boil down to Guilbeau just being a really big Tolbert fan and now he is a bit whiny over Gonzo being here instead of Tolbert.

Read that it had to do with the NFL retirement plan being "too good" ... and maybe Gonzales wants to be where players don't get arrested? I don't know ... everyone has to decide what's best for him/her ... guess Guilbeau's just trying to stir the pot maybe?
