BBATiger said what I was thinking....
quote:Supporting him and thinking he is the best for the job are 2 completely different things.
I support him because he is the coach of my team.....but in no way do I think he is the best for the job.

Agreed. Miles' best chance is catching Saban and Meyer in a down year

A bit of a strange, compound question. Support him? Yes, of course. I think he is a good coach in many respects. The absolute best coach for the job? Well, no, but I don't think Trent Johnson is he nation's best hoops coach and I tickled to have him. Can he lead us to a top 5 finsh and possibly a national title? Well, we won a national title just two years ago and with a win in the Cap One will finish in the top 10 with a 19 year old QB.

With all this BS about how much better Saban and Meyer are than Miles, I think it should be noted that Miles was 3-1 against them with an experienced (Jr. or Sr.) QB but 0-4 against them with a younger (Fr. or So.) That isn't a coincidence.

35% -- SEC
15% --NC

that really follow college football do you think feel that Miles is the best coach to bring LSU back to elite status (top 5 perennially) & another Nat'l Ship in the next 3-5 yrs?
Ummm....25%?

LSU is already there! 1 or 2 bad calls from being in the top 5. But even if they lost those 2 games against the no. 1 and 2 team in the country by small margins they are still a power.

So, Miles is 3-5 vs. God's gift to the college coaching duo, according to some.
Tell me again why we are doomed to failure when in fact he is but one win away from having a .500 record vs. the best the SEC/college football has to offer, according to some here???

No, not "no" but "Hell No!".

+1 How many games has Les lost during his tenure at LSU where you can honestly say the opposing team had superior talent?

Your question misses so many points that it's hard to address. No one thinks that he's objectively "the best", but the more relavent points are (1) he is the coach that we have, (2) we're probably "stuck" with him for at least 2 more seasons, and (3) he's capable of winning NCs, as he's proven. So, unless you can magically replace him with Saban, Meyer, Carroll, Kelly, or whomever, what's the point?
Sheesh.
Sheesh.

meh...injuries and refs can swing a game also. We were given the chance to beat ole miss, but we should never have been in that situation to begin with. If JJ starts against La tech we would have blown them out. If scott, JJ, Peterson dont get hurt and the no call int on bama doesnt happen we could either have won or the score would have been even closer. Bama and Uf are not going to catch all the breaks needed every season.

LSU has finished in the top 5 four times in the last 20+ years. Three of those times, the head coach was Les Miles. Again, 75% of the time LSU finished in the top 5 in the last 20+ years, they were coached by Les Miles.
I think Saban is the best coach in CFB, but for all his greatness, this will only be the 2nd season in his career that his team will finish in the top 5. 2nd. Most of y'all give coaches WAY too much credit. Players win or lose games. Coaches just put them in positions to do so. And there are more than just 2 or 3 coaches that are capabale of putting LSU players in position to win games.

Chicot the second coach is Tyke Tolbert of Bullalo bills wide rec coach. Dandydon reported this in early dec.

People just all start saying the same things. Right now the cool thing to say is "Fire Les." Same thing happened about Saban. Hopefully we won't run Les off to Uf or something and have him win a nat'l champ in a few years.
