Regardless of personnel the last two years..

Bama plays with a sense of urgency, most every game, gets ahead early, and attempts to dominate..

LSU, has not shown a sense of urgency with any consistency, and doesn't attempt to dominate, vacillating up-and-down to the competition..

Teams tend to mirror the Head Coaches!

People like to think LSU was in a much worse state than Bama was when he took over... so going 24-0 the past 2 regular seasons means there is no turning back. He should also be excused for the UAB and ULM losses because they were his first yr as the coach.

Then there is the logic that shula must be crap and didnt bring any talent to bama. It was all Saban. Well LSU had NFL talent on it's team before he got here and still he couldnt do this at LSU. With this logic then there really is no hope. If the great saban could only bring us to one 1 loss season, then what coach can do better?

Why didn't he do so at LSU?

That's what he was building at LSU.

This is really really really DUMB!

Why didn't he do so at LSU? This is legit. All I see are posts from Ms. Cleo's assistants that Alabama will win the West for the next 34 years because there's no one to stop him.

He didn't do so at LSU. Why is that?

I'm so sorry I missed this thread. Saban is in a better position now than he was at LSU. When he came to LSU in Dec. 1999, the coaching world knew how good of a coach was, but the high school coaches and recruits in the South did not. Saban proceeded to build the dominant program at LSU. (That 9-3 record you listed in his last season would have most certainly been 10-2 if he wasn't already the head coach at Miami). People were able to negative recruit against him somewhat with "Saban will go pro," because it was eventually going to happen.

Fast forward to Jan. 2006. Nick Saban takes the Alabama head job, and immediately every top recruit in the country knows who this guy is. He is not going to be going to the pros because he's already tried it. In just his 2nd year at Alabama he went undefeated in the regular season. In his 3rd season at Alabama he is 13-0, SEC Champs, the 1st coach to ever take 2 different programs to the National Title game, and about to win his 2nd National Title. He does not have any other great program to go to because he is already at the top of the montain "realative to" (you like that Saban-ism?) power, control, and he will get whatever he wants at Alabama.

Meanwhile, his main competition in state fired their coach after losing to Alabama for the first time in 7 years. The program he built into a national power in Baton Rouge is coached by a guy who asks the state patrolman if he had a time out left after the clock runs out on him. The SEC West is Saban's until somebody steps up and hires a coach that can compete with him.

Wait until he loses all of Shula's players-THEN we will see how well he can do.

Nah.. All of those senior defensive studs that Shula recruited will be gone this year, along with McClain.

I don't say that. Alabama could of lost 3 or 4 games this year, but got the right breaks. Nobody is gonna dominate this league solely.

A - He is a better coach after his Miami experience
B - The other coaches in the West today are not as talented as those when he was HC of LSU
C - He doesn't face Florida every year in the regular season.

He'll have some down years if he gets a few QB's like Marcus Randall.

It can be argued that he was on the way to doing just that. A screw job at Auburn in 2004 is all that prevented him from winning three SEC titles in his last four years.

People don't have perspective of the long run.

Saban and Bama will come back to earth soon enough. Just as Florida came back to earth on Saturday.

It's just the nature of the league...
