to Cajun Field.. Who makes these decisions? Was it the LHSAA?? or maybe the school??

Anyway.... it's some bull shite..

Side note: New Iberia Senior High made it to the Semi's 30 years ago and they moved the game to Cajun Field because of the weather messed up Llody G. From what I heard they said the city hated that they had to move the game to lafayette. But NISH ended up winning and going on to the Championship... Could this happened again? I HOPE!!

That is an interesting move. Even if the weather is shite, you need to play at home. The only thing I can gather is they are expecting tons more people than porter can hold. I don't see how Westgate and NISH haven't gotten their own on campus football fields. They have plenty of room. Hell all NISH would have to do is put up bleachers at their track.

idk either.. idk why NISH needs 2 football fields at their school..

I understand why Westgate doesn't have one is because they are a new school. The most Westgate has is a small practice field.

I have no REAL dog in this hunt, my son, hopefully, will be a Crusader next year. We live next door to Joe Yenni (East Jefferson) Stadium, and Archbishop Rummel brings a TON of fans. Now, obviously, they're not ALL going to travel.

However, I've been reading the Westgate threads, and it sounds as if the visitor section there in New Iberia is quite small. While Rummel won't likely have the four or five thousand that normally attend home games, I do think they'll have way more than Lloyd G's visitor section can hold.

It's quite possible, too, that the schools have been communicating and Rummel may have already sold more tickets than that section will hold? I don't know. I do know that they have a strong attendance and good tailgating to boot. It's ALMOST a nightmare getting into or out of my neighborhood on game day.

In the end, though, this is only MHO.

Yes the visitors side is small..South Lafourche has a couple thousand, and Central B.R. had a couple thousand, and they all ended up having a place to sit. They put the band and their parents in a section on our side.

Regardless, this should be a HOME game for Westgate. Not having to travel to LAfayette for a game.

I get that, but there is alot of cane field land around there that could be donated or bought in that area.

I'm not disagreeing with that sentiment, please understand. I'm only speculating. From the reading of your posts on other threads, I thought the visitor side was much smaller than that.

going back to 70s though there is a history of acadiana area teams moving games to cajun field.....

NISH, Laf, Acadiana all did it... NISH moved 79 finals there.

Oh I know. It's all good.

But some people are saying it's the weather and some are saying it's the amount of people Rummel is bringing..

Really? Laf high and Acadiana? I didn't know that.

NISH lost to St. Aug. in the Finals at Cajun Field.

The Rummel game was packed last week. Hahnville had a nice crowd show up. On the Rummel side, people was sitting steps, no where to walk up or down. It was packed, however all are not going to travel to Laffy.

Temp bleachers should have been brought in if the was not enough sitting. I remember this beening done at a St. Amant game when I went there. I think the bleachers were rented and set up. The next week they was removed.

Exactly, this is what happened when we played Destrehan in the Semi's in '07. They had some Temp bleachers.

I think this can benefit both teams. Rummel plays on a field turf at home, so they are use to it. But with Westgate's speed this could help them also.

Many Metairie people are noted pansies, too.
Easier to hop on the interstate and get off in Laffy at the ULL exit, than to have to brave the wilds of Highway 90 into New Iberia.

Don't underestimate this, either.

Personally, I don't care. Part of the fun of it is traveling to places you might not normally travel. I hope that Brother Martin has a few of these in the upcoming years and that we get to go.

Just a thought, I wonder if this will be the televised game this week? Cajun Field must have a nicer press area than Porter?

Man, all kinds of scenarios.
