LSU football has never.....

been in trouble with the NCAA. the integrity of our university is very important to me, and i hope,to most alumni also. it sounds like coach miles is going about this mccarthy thing the right way. if he's found at fault, i personally hope they nail his balls to the wall. being a public university, i also hope that details of this violation become known. after the investigation is over and if someone is guilty, this "privacy" shite don't count.

there are a million recruiting violations a year that are very minor, or go unnoticed...

Didn't the basketball team get some sanctions from the NCAA a few years back? In addition I seem to remember a grade scandal back when Saban was here but I don't think any sanctions came from it.
If this is the case then LSU has been in trouble before. Just because the football team hasn't had any recent sanctions does not mean that violations have not been investigated nor does it mean that other athletic programs at LSU haven't come under scrutiny.
JMHO,
Tim

You're an idiot if you think lsu or anybody else for that matter is/has been clean.

LSU football has had issues with the NCAA before. If I remember correctly, LSU had issues with the Academic Ctr for Athletes when Saban was here - tutors giving students inappropriate help with tests/projects. I think they had to hire an academic compliance officer.
It happens at every university - thankfully this looks minor.

Good to know. If you think it's important to you, imagine how important it is to the people employed by the university.

The NCAA took a few schollies away from Saban for some violations.

Hey, if you have a cancer you cut it out. I like seeing Miles put on simmer...not boil, just simmer. I think he does better when things are 'uncomfortable'.
In the end, I think 'character' will beat 'privacy' in the thunderdome.

As an alumnus, it is my understanding that LSU's football program has never been on probation or lost any scholarships. While, it is my understanding that the football program has only ever had sanctions such as the loss of number of recruiting trips. I would like to know if LSU has ever seen any more severe sanctions.
Furthermore, LSU's basketball program deservedly so faced probation, a significant loss of scholarships and other sanctions.

i dont remember if scholarships were pulled, but Saban did recieve a light penalty for recruiting violations back in 2002. it was for illegally contacting a recruit, the same as what DJ Mcarthy is in trouble for now.

In 2002-03, LSU admitted to five secondary NCAA violations after an investigation into a plagiarism and grade changing scandal involving football players in a kinesiology class. The NCAA accepted LSU’s self-imposed penalties of two lost scholarships and four recruiting visits during the 2003-04 recruiting year and later settled two lawsuits with the instructors who made the initial allegations.

Grandad... I hear what you're saying and I agree. However, this will not amount to anything imo.

CharlesLSU, you are right. i admit i have no idea what really goes on. you post that you do. others call me an idiot. yet, alabama, auburn, texas a&m, oklahoma state, kentucky and several others get busted big time more than once. when dale brown pissed the NCAA off years ago (before he actually got caught with paying the medical expenses for a recruits mom), they came to campus and camped out for a coupla years investigating our basketball program and decided to investigate our football progam as well. with one very minor exception, our football program passed with flying colors. that minor exception was not monitoring the tickets given to the players. each got 6 per game for their familys and it seems like the NCAA thought they were selling some of them (are they were probably correct). yes, since the NCAA has a million rules i can see minor ones getting broken, some accidentally, but i think we run a clean program. i have no proof otherwise. i know some people think all schools cheat, but i don't know about that.
