Should we have faked an injury?

I know...another thread about the end of the game, but I just heard something on ESPN radio and it got me thinking. Should we have faked an injury on that pass to TT? It would've given us time to get the kicking team on the field. Just a thought.

We would have had to fake a heart failure and wait for EMS/open heart surgery before we would have been ready.

Worked for Hester. Yes, yes and yes.

Es wäre viel Übertreffen nur gewesen, früher als erwartet vorbereitet zu werden. Fälschen erfordert eine Verletzung Vorbereitung.
It would have been much better to just be prepared ahead of time. Faking an injury requires preparation.

C'mon man. It's over.
Let's just move on.
The what-ifs hurt my heart.

Well said sir. Anything would've been better than what happened.

i said that since saturday night. it was the only thing really to do in that situation. the worst that would have done is that we would have had a 15 yd penalty for delay of game called on us.

pretty sure if you have an injury in the last two minutes of the game, you have to either take a timeout or a runoff of the clock. its like this in the pros and im pretty confident there is a similar rule in college. Hester did it after a touchdown so no time ran off

i thought that as well. in college, it is a 15 yd penalty. i verified this with a collegiate official. however, he did say that the NCAA frowns on that very much. I told him who cares?

would they not have also run the clock?

yet, the NCAA doesn't frown on the debacle that has come of SEC officials this year???They aren't taking any wins away from anybody. Any W is good with me

From the NCAA Football Rules:
Coaching Ethics
Deliberately teaching players to violate the rules is indefensible. The
coaching of intentional holding, beating the ball, illegal shifting, feigning injury,
interference, illegal forward passing or intentional roughing will break down
rather than aid in the building of the character of players. Such instruction is not
only unfair to one’s opponent but is demoralizing to the players entrusted to a
coach’s care and has no place in a game that is an integral part of an educational
program.
The following are unethical practices:
. . .
h. Feigning an injury for the purpose of gaining additional, undeserved
time for one’s team. An injured player must be given full protection
under the rules, but feigning injury is dishonest, unsportsmanlike and
contrary to the spirit of the rules. Such tactics cannot be tolerated among
sportsmen of integrity.
. . .
Unfair Clock Tactics
ARTICLE 3. The referee shall order the game clock or play clock started or
stopped whenever either team conserves or consumes playing time by tactics
obviously unfair.
