Miles said during his radio show that at practice Monday, the team worked on situations where if the QB takes a sack at the end of the game, then the QB "can make the call" for a timeout.

Folks, I am not trying to flame, but that sounds to me as if Miles, rather than take responsibility to correct the situation, is trying to shuffle off more responsibility onto the players. I am sorry, but in that situation, the HEAD COACH should be the person responsible for making that determination.

And Miles' sarcastic reaction to the callers who pointedly questioned him about his clock mismanagement lended further evidence that Miles just doesn't get it. I truly believe Miles still does not think he mismanaged the end of the game. He is simply giving lip service because he was probably told to do so by the AD.

While I am going to always support the team and the program, I am telling you now that the slide of LSU football is not going to be reversed until Miles is replaced.

I'm sure he's tired of talking about it. It seems like that's all he's talked about and he already took responsibility for it. What else is he supposed to say now?

He said he thought the timeout was called and that he should have made sure it was, didn't he? What else should he say or do?

If the QB takes the sack, then he is the most likely person to be able to get a TO communicated to the referee. Not defending anything that happened last week but i personally would rather see the QB scrambling for a TO than anyone from the sideline.

That he actually has an intelligent plan to correct the situation. Not, that the QB "can make that call." What if the QB does not make the call for timeout in the future? Will it then be the QB's fault?

Ridiculous.

Miles should be hanged publically, then maybe people will be happy.

Let it go dude. It's not like they are going to waste valuable practice time by having the head coach practice taking time outs.

As an Arkansas fan I'm glad to hear Miles is working on things like this in practice this week.

What you guys fail to understand is that you, the fans, are not the ones on the field busting your asses to win a game. I guarantee you that while you may be ready to forgive Miles and have faith in him, the players no longer share your confidence. And that is where the rubber meets the road. We will see against Arkansas if Miles has lost his team. If so, then all the fan support in the world for Miles ain't going to save him.

If you run the ball, like any other team at any level would have done, there is no possibility of a sack.

Will Gary Crowton's mindboggling retarded play calling which led to the sack be addressed as well?

everyone knows you drop back a QB with an injured ankle who holds onto the ball too long to pass when you are in field goal range with time ticking off the clock. especially when your kicker just nailed one from the 50

good thought, gary

...i heard Les say that and i hope that is NOT his only "Fix" for his poor game/time management...

You left out "a play with 25 yard routes which take three seconds develop, with no drop off route, after your opponent has blitzed the last ten plays."

He assigned a guy to SPECIFICALLY MANAGE THE CLOCK. How is that not addressing the problem again???

I've seen several quotes like this over the last few days, but have not seen any suggestions for what else he should be doing? Really...as someone stated earlier do you want them to spend the entire practice running "timeout" drills?!?1 I don't know what else you want him to do or say. Do you want him to write down his Corrective Action Plan and distribute it to all of the bitching pussies on this board for approval?

I was a 4 year letterman at LSU and have since had both neck and knee surgery from injuries during my days on the field. Please don't tell me what it is like to be busting your arse on the field. Where did I say anything about forgiving Miles. What you need to understand is that he will be on the field Saturday coaching these seniors in their last game in Tiger Stadium. We lost my last game in Tiger Stadium and to this day when I look at my helmet in my office I get a sick feeling about it. Just because you don't feel satisfied with the level of criticism of Miles over this incident reaching a point that may help you sleep better, Miles is the coach, will be the coach next year and will be fired if necessary. Its time to quit piling on and support your team.

See my post above yours. He's doing everything he can to make this right. I truly believe we will see a different team this Saturday. I like what I've been hearing from the players and Les. They also seemed to be really pumped about the new unis. Every little bit helps I guess. It also wouldn't break my heart if we find out Crowton has be relieved of his duties for this game.

I think I've seen this posted every week so far this season.

Miles has had clock management issues in several games I can think of prior to this one, and it wasn't addressed. Off the top of my head:

Tennessee 2005 - end of half and attempt to call TO after INT before someone grabbed him and told him he was being an idiot.

SECCG 2007 - end of half issues again

UGA 2009 - end of half issues yet again

What else am I forgetting?

Point being...it shouldn't have taken this happening to get this issue addressed.
