I'm still on the fence about Miles

I think he is a better coach/recruiter than most realize. We just witnessed his darkest hour and low point during his career at LSU and I really don't think it'll happen again. Sometimes, people need to screw up really bad to "wake them up" and get back in the mix of things. This isn't 2007 anymore and I think he has now realized this. I think we need to cut ties with Crowton and Studrawa and build from there. We are a few offensive coaches and a solid, more experience offensive line/Jordan Jefferson to get back where we want to be. Even if we would have beaten Ole Miss (who really outplayed us the whole game), we still aren't "SEC Championship/BCS Championship caliber" yet. I still have some faith in Miles if he makes the appropriate changes over the off season and I think he will.

What has happened during the past two seasons that allows you to still have faith in Miles?

Last season we had a very problematic, inexperienced quarterback. No one thought that Lee/Hatch/Jefferson was going to play. We had horrid co-defensive coordinators. Miles has fixed that and the defense has improved light years from 2008 to 2009. I am hoping he can and will do the same with the offense.

People say, Fire Miles this and that and I honestly can't blame them. Hell, I have said similar things following the Ole Miss game. That said, the guy still isn't that bad of a coach. Hell, his record proves it. We have to remember that he is surrounded by some of the best coaches in the country (SEC opponets coaches) and he still has moderate success against them. He recruits extremly well (and I don't care what yall say, as long as one recruits well, you'll have a really solid team). He just needs to fix the offense, let Jefferson get one more offseason under his belt and we'll be good to go. Look at all the talent UF is losing. Alabama is coming to Tiger Stadium next year, etc. Next year we'll be much improved.

I don't know. I have always defended him and now I am starting to see what people have been saying about him.

IMO, I think the best way to sum up Les Miles at LSU is that he has enough talent to get him out of shitty situations. Chad Jones got him out of MSU, Holliday got him out of Georgia, etc.

If Miles was a lawyer for example, he would know his shite but his organization skills will eventually catch up with him and cost him a case here and there eventually giving him a bad rep which will hurt his business.

That crap happens all the time though. Cody got Saban out of Tennessee with 2 blocked field goals, Jarvis Moss (UF) got Urban Meyer out of South Carolina with a block of a game winning field goal in 2006, Nebraska WR got the great Tom Osborne out of Missouri with a last second miracle catch, etc. You aren't going to be flawless every game week in and week out (especially in the SEC).

Your obsession with the TAF is so fricking weird. Did you get kicked out/not allowed in or something?

I go to SMU, not a member of TAF. I'm just stating my opinion.

The only great hire that Miles has made was Pellini. Fisher was leftover from Saban, he had to fire Malloveto after one season, and it looks like he'll have to fire both Crowton and Stud after hiring them both in 2007. Yes, our defense is improved over last year, but it's not a great defense and it has trouble getting three and outs.

Say what you want, but Chavis, Ron Cooper, and Haley is a pretty f*cking impressive lineup.

Yeah I left out Cooper. Isn't Haley the d-line coach? I hear a lot of people have been bitching about him since they don't get qb pressure and don't really make many tackles for loss or at the line of scrimmage.

Our current d-line (upperclassmen) are "meh"...they aren't much to write home about. We have some EXTREMELY talented freshman and sophmores that will wreck shop on any SEC team in the near future.

I have been staying away from this whole situation since Saturday, mostly because I really don't know what to think about it. But I think you just wrote my post for me.

I wish I could share your faith. Unfortunately, nothing in either the substance or tone of what Miles has said over the last few days have led me to believe that he has suddenly woke up or that the light has gone on. He's demonstrated no fire, no spirit, no desire (or maybe even no ability) to really crack down and straighten things out that I can see.

Hope you're right and I'm wrong.
