This guy should be high on the list. Not only has he done an amazing job with the offense and the quarterbacks he also has coached with the saints (with and without riley) and isn't a stranger to Louisiana and the expectations. He is the guy I would want but I doubt he leaves because he is from Oregon as is his wife. Unless he becomes a head coach I don't see him leaving for another oc job.

He's young. I think he could be had. And moving from Oregon State to LSU would most definitely be a career advancement.

maybe but I think he is loyal to Riley. They have been together for sometime and were together a little bit in New Orleans. I don't see him leaving his home state for another oc job. Head coaching gig yes but he isn't ready yet. If LSU had Riley.......wow, the guy is a great coach and takes most of the leftovers from oregon and cali and makes them into players. He knows how to develop people. Just think what he could do with our talent....his whole staff is good and all know how to coach and are stable, no revolving door of coaches. He does more with less than probably most college football teams in the country.
eta.........I don't ever think Riley is going anywhere ever though. He was so grateful for getting a second chance to go back to OSU. He said he made a mistake when first leaving and said he wouldn't do it again if given the chance for a do over. He was with the Saints when Erickson left and Riley contacted OSU, not the other way around. I think Riley is truly happy where he is.

What about him? I don't know anything about him really. What has he really proven? He isn't even the oc at texas right? Aren't there other choices out there that are more of a solid choice........especially given the situation we are in. We need a lock, not an if.

I posted this in another thread, but it works for this one as well:
Good OCs we can realistically hire:
1. Dana Holgorsen (OC Houston)
Our best chance to get a great offensive coach, especially if Coach Sumlin leaves the program for somewhere else. Coaches closeby, familiar with recruiting in Texas, Texas Tech's OC last year (4th ranked offense), Houston's OC this year (1st ranked offense). Question marks include: having already inherited two great offensive systems, and not having recruited or developed his players.
2. Nolan Cromwell (OC Texas A&M)
Aggies offense is ranked 6th overall. He has experience coaching mobile quarterbacks. Cromwell coached three Super Bowl offenses under Mike Holmgren (2 with Green Bay, 1 with Seattle). Also coaches in the area. Only his first season at the college level.
3. Justin Fuente (Co-OC, Running Backs Coach TCU)
Coordinates the 4th ranked offense, and is the RB coach for the 5th ranked rushing offense. Also coaches in the area.
4. Sonny Dykes (OC Arizona)
Zona's 430 yds/g is the 2nd best in the Pac-10 after Stanford. Was an Asst. Coach at ULM years ago. Has done incredible things with Arizona's once-anemic passing game. He served as the WR coach for Texas Tech from 2000-2006 and may have recruited Michael Crabtree.
5. Robert Anae (OC BYU)
Would be ironic, because this guy kind of replaced Gary Crowton at BYU. He's been nothing but solid for BYU, and developed Max Hall and Harvey Unga into great players.
6. Frank Cignetti (OC Pitt, Quarterbacks coach)
He was the Saints' QB coach from 00-01. I haven't checked how well they did that year. He has QB coached a number of other programs. The Pitt offense is only ranked 39th in the country, but they have been a big surprise under Cignetti who took over this year.
Good OCs we won't get because they are coordinating for their alma mater:

I like that choice even better. Anyone who coached with Holmgren is very smart and has attention to detail.......something that needs to be addressed at lsu....obviously!

His first go round and he turned an anemic offense into a great offense. Pretty impressive.
Also has history coaching STs... could be an added bonus.
