relative to Miles standing. The signs and symptoms have been there since the beginning. They will persist.
No point arguing about standing on his record during his first three years. It just masks the underlying problems which have been evident. Some can point to the first three years and see greatness but, at some point, most experienced watchers of college football have been left scratching their heads (and maybe their asses) wondering WTF Les was doing.
It might have been a time management issue e.g. end of the first half vs UGa this year or the end of the AU game in 2007. In the UGa game we lost an opportunity for another score. In the AU game, it miraculously worked out for us. Whew! There have been a few too many "whew" moments.
It may have been not using Charles Scott in the 2nd half of the 07 UK game after he had ripped the Mildcats a new arsehole in the first half.
It may have been not throwing the ball in the 06 Auburn game when they had two cornerbacks out of the game or hobbled. We played right into the strength of that AU team. We lost and probably lost a shot at the NC.
I could go on and on about the times when fans and observers have been befuddled by Miles words, actions, game plans, etc.
Miles is lacking in many tangible and intangible qualities as a Head Coach for an "elite" program.
Regardless of whether we beat the Hogs, which I doubt will happen, or how we finish in the bowl, Les Miles will continue to be second guessed. He may rally some support if he rebounds at seasons end. He may get a new offensive staff and rebound next year but eventually this apparently decent man's overall shortcomings will manifest themselves again and there will be messy end to his career at LSU.
He TOTALLY lost me this year. Crowton lost me last year. I admit to never being comfortable with him but I have wanted him to be great. He isn't. I can't live in denial anymore. I used to defend him to all the Gator assholes I live around and work with but I can't do it anymore. I tell them he is our Ron Zook.
He is our Larry Coker. That is how I feel.

LSU football traditionally has 3 to 4 losses a season and loses to the powerhouses like Bama, so, as long as Coach Miles can accomplish that, I don't see him getting fired anytime soon.
I do not believe that the LSU "powers that be" are as committed to being an "elite football program" as fans are.

JU I agree with you,Les might be a class act and a good man, but he is in over his head. I might be spoiled, but why settle for 3 or 4 loss season every year. We will be out coached every year as long as Miles is still here not matter who the OC and DC is. We don't need a figure head, we need a proactive, aggressive, organized, on his game Head Coach.
Ya'll don't think the players see the troubles we all see, magnified more than we do.
Sorry, with what we all know, Mr.AD the ball is in your court, make us proud.

I've changed my mind about Miles, I think he needs to go. We can't settle for 3-4 loss seasons each year.
The problem here is that Miles is ruining the perception of LSU. Yes, he totally screwed up the game, esepcially after we recovered the onside kick. But I was listening to the radio this morning, and apparently, Miles is a "lying weasel" and a "coward" This is going to hurt recruiting and it will do no good for our football program. If you are a top recruited athlete, why would you want to go to LSU after watching everything unfold the past few days? This is why I think Miles needs to go.

There is not going to be an 8 figure buyout happening. Everyone thinking the buyout will happen is nuts.

certainly hasn't hurt Saban's recruiting, but I know what you mean.

President Lombardi is. Just ask John Brady.

Agree Miles isn't going to all of a sudden wake up. The problems have been there all along.
He will, however, keep making statements every time he screws up saying he's going to fix things.
The best way for him to fix things is to leave and allow LSU to bring in more competent leader.

President Lombardi will take a MUCH MUCH MUCH larger national PR hit in allowing 18.5 million to be paid to simply FIRE a coach(even if they could raise the money)...do you guys even think about shite like that? The school's image would take a huge image hit as simply a football factory and not the actual flagship university that its trying to be. Remember we are actually a SCHOOL with a football team.

Im not understanding the 3 - 4 losses a year argument. It's happened twice in his 5 years. Saban had more 3-4 loss seasons.

This is such bullshite. Before Saturday everyone was saying what a great guy he was...he just may not be cut out for the job. Now they're reduced to pussy name calling after one game.
I understand being pissed off...but the hatred for Miles is fricking ridiculous.

that's because our fans are a bunch of gaping vaginas who feel we are entitled to the best coach in the nation and if we dont have him then we will pay unprecedented buyout figures so the top coaches in the nation can all get in a bidding war each undercutting the other for that one special chance to be our coach.

IMO, Miles ranks in the botton 20% of current SEC coaches. Eventually this is where out team ranking will end up.
There are probably 7 or 8 SEC coaches that would have produced 10 or 11 wins with the talent we have. With a good/experienced OL, maybe we get 11 or 12 wins.
We lost the #1 HS player in the state this year and it looks like we will next year also. Add in McKnight and that is 3 in 5 years. I don't think that is a very encouraging sign of things to come. We lose out quite a bit when battling another team for a 5* recruit. We need to keep our #1 and start winning those big recruiting battles. I don't think Miles & Co has the mojo to do this and he doesn't have the skill to coach them up once we happen to get a few in the pen.
This is now on Joe's shoulders. Let's trust him to make the right decision going forward. I think he did a great job with TJ. Plus, I believe JA has the mojo to bring in a good head FB coach. I'm not sure Skip did.

We're not that talented at QB and o-line, which are the 2 most important areas. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Miles will not be fired this year, or perhaps next year. But if you actually believe that John Lombardi will tolerate a middle-of-the-road coach at top-of-the-line salary, then you're gravely mistaken.
