Well.. He was able to beat Oklahoma a few times at OSU.
2 out of 4
he left OSU 28-21
CLEARLY the right choice for a top 5 school like LSU.

I realize that, and I think he is a terrible fit here, but he has won games at a mid-tier BCS school and could do it again.

Believe it or not there are schools who would love 28-21 and regular bowl appearances.

What team honestly would want Les Miles as their coach?
look around would you. even when we suck and idiot fans want everyone fired, we're top 20.

LSU could have gotten away with this years ago.
The fans weren't paying for expectations.
Saban changed that.

But pay for a top 5 coach

After Saturday, not even Colorado would want him.

Who? Who would want him?
Lots of people. He may not be an elite level coach, but he's still a pretty good coach that can recruit and if a middle tier BCS school had the chance they'd gladly hire him.

how do you think he'd do without all the 4 and 5 star recruits?
beat ou 2x without 4 and 5 star recruits.

um...
I think if any team were in talks to hire miles, their fans would be going nuts.

Gundy is 0 for 4 and has a slightly worse record there in the same span.
His 28-21 is sadly one of the better records in that school's history.

what about the other 21 losses?

perhaps michigan wishes they would have pushed a little harder for him a couple years ago instead of Rich Rodriguez or maybe USC might would make an even straight up trade Pete Carroll for Les Miles. Who knows who would want Les Miles as their head coach. Interesting to contemplate though

I think you overestimate middle tier schools.
At LSU we play for National Championships.
Middle tier schools play to win their conference... every 4 years or so. That's the their expectations...

Check history and tell me who was that much more impressive than Miles there.... context.
ETA: I don't want to keep Miles and I'm not defending him per se. Just speaking in facts.
