I know this is about a book, but it's liable to made into a movie so I think it's appropriate.
I'm reading King's new book "Under the Dome."
How in the world can one person come up with so much crazy stuff? And so often and regularly? He has like two books a year. And they are all insane.
His mind must be one weird place.

I haven't read much of his since the last Dark Tower book.
Some of his work started to blend together and seemed repetitious.
Started reading Lisey's Story and couldn't get through it.
I have read a lot of good things about The Dome so I will probably have someone give it to me for Xmas.
He is definitely a messed up dude.

I hadn't heard he had a new book out until I went to Barnes and Noble the other day. That thing was like 1000 pages...I'd be ticked off if I read that entire thing and then it had another one of his stupid endings

what are some good king books? he has written so many i dont even know which are the enjoyable ones and which are the mediocre ones. what say you?

I have read only a relatively small portion of his books, but The Dark Tower series is my favorite. Wolves of the Calla being the best of the six IMO.
The Stand is also very good. I read the complete and uncut edition. That took a while

Thought it was the worst... by far. To each his own, I guess.
IMO the vast majority of his books are very good. If you had to pick out a few, I'd recommend -
The Stand
It
The Shining
Salem's Lot
Dark Tower Series
and Different Seasons and On Writing for something a little different.

Funny. The one I disliked was Song of Suzannah. Tough to finish. Hated it.
I loved the buildup to the showdown in Wolves. Second best to me was Wizard and Glass. Drawing of the Three was third IMO.

Susannah would be second worst IMO. I loved the first four, 5 and 6 were meh, but it picked up again in the end.

i tried reading the first book of the dark tower series. its soooo slow. nothing really happens. really turned me off. does it really get better?

King was a raging alcoholic for most of his life. I suppose that either gave him insight, or it was something he did to cope with what's in that head of his.
I thought he lost his touch for a bit when he first got sober, but he's written some decent stuff recently.

The first book, The Gunslinger, is very slow and much different than the other five. He wrote it when he was very young. The writing style and tempo changed in the next book. I forced my way through The Gunslinger and it was worth it by the next book.

He's written a shite-ton of awesome books. I read everything could get my hands on for awhile, but I guess I moved on. Not much time for fiction anymore.
Last one I read was Cell, and it was pretty good. I also tried to read Lisey's Story but couldn't finish it.

Met him at TJ Ribs in 1996. Maine was playing in the women's regional. His wife was a reporter for the Portland Sun. The Gov. of Maine and his wife were getting all the attention. Once he relized no one wanted to talk to him, he butted into all the conversations. He was interesting and thoughtful with his conversation. Really a down to Earth guy.

You know, people complain about the way he ended Dark Tower. But what bothered me the most was what he did to Flagg.
One of the greatest villains in modern literature and King lets him go out like a secondary character. A punk.

Skeleton Crew. Group of short stories including the one that the movie The Mist is based on. My favorites are The Jaunt, Survivor Type and The Raft. Pretty disturbing and fricked up shite, especially for a 12 year old. lol
