I know this may be a little out there, but shouldn't a team that only loses to #1 and #2 be ranked #3?... Do you think if LSU wins out that our final ranking could be that high? Wouldn't that make sense?

Should LSU, Florida and Bama all win big in the bowls I could see the Tigers being ranked 3rd.

Derek Dooley was asked how LSU could move UP in the BCS polls after losing to Alabama.

Derek's response was that LSU is probably under-ranked. They took the 2 best teams in the nation into the 4th quarter with a chance to win both games. To him, LSU is #3 right now.

LSU finishes as high as #2 if CIncy loses to WV tonight... TCU loses to Utah tomorrow... Boise drops one at some point.... Georgia Tech loses in the ACC Championship... and one of the top 2 loses in the SEC Championship. The loser of the BCS has a chance of dropping below LSU if we somehow play in the Sugar Bowl or blow out a Big 10 team

I remember one year way back (think it was '71), that Nebraska, Okla, Colorado finished 1-2-3. Okla lost only to Nebraska in a classic, Colorado lost only to the two of them, and all three won their bowl games.

Unlikely to happen that way, but never say never.

And Cincy, BSU, TCU, and USC (of course they will be up there regardless of merit)lose big then sure.

Sure it could happen. Didn't we win a NC with 2 losses? But too many things have to happen. Cincy, TCU, and Boise all have to lose. And if USC wins out BIG - forget it - the media swings from Pete's nutz - they won't let it happen.

No, a team that loses to #1 and #2 should not be ranked #3. What if saidteam were to lose by 30 to the #1 and 2 team, but win the rest of their games.

Dandy Don mentioned we could possibly end up in the Orange Bowl. Did he mean by an "at large bid"?

Thoughts?

If there are only 3 teams in the set being ranked, that would be a logical conclusion. But with 119 teams, among whom there are 5 or so that haven't lost, and in a system where strength of schedule is (don't argue about this--it is) taken into account in a subjective way, logic doesn't compel your conclusion.
